"I realize that we've talked about almost everything, and I've never asked this."

My back was pressed against Ashton's stomach as we curled up on my couch. I could feel the vibrations as he talked, laying my head back on his shoulder.

"What is it?" I hummer, looking up at him.

He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "Do you want kids? And I mean we've only been together for about three months and we've known each other for six, but I'm genuinely curious."

I stared at his hazel eyes for a second, but I didn't even have to think.

"I've always wanted kids," I told him honestly.

His eyes lit up. "Really? Me too! How many?"

I shrugged. "Three or four. Parenting is supposed to be one of the most amazing yet hellish experience, and I would want to experience that as much as possible."

Ashton grinned. "I've always wanted to watch my own kid grow from a tiny little fetus to an adult."

I nodded, nuzzling into his neck. "I love you."

He kissed my head, mumbling "I love you."

"How come you always say 'I love you' rather than 'I love you too'?" I pecked his jaw lightly.

He shrugged with his other shoulder. "Because then it just sounds like I'm agreeing with you."

We were silent for a bit.

"Can we talk more?" I whispered.

He nodded. "What do you wanna talk about?"

I thought for a moment. "We can talk about kids more?"

"When do you want kids?" he asked.

"I mean, I've always said as long as I'm an adult," I spoke. "I have nothing against teen pregnancies, I just know I wouldn't have been ready at that age."

"I get what you mean."

I sighed, closing my eyes.

"You really want a baby, don't you?" he smirked, looking down at me.

I scoffed. "No. Well, yes. But there's no way I could have a baby, Ash."

He popped one eyebrow up. "What do you mean? You have me, Mel."

I almost melted at that nickname again. "Ashton, we've dated for three months. I don't think we'd be ready to have a baby."

Ashton sighed. "I know, I know. But you're the only one I would want to have my babies!"

I laughed. "Thanks, it's an honor."

He swatted at my shoulder, suddenly sitting up from against the couch, turning to face me. "I'm serious Mel. I think I really want this."

I looked down at his hands that were squeezing my knees gently. I turned my gaze up to his eyes, immediately regretting it. His eyes were filled with hope, and he looked like he really wanted this.

I leaned forward into his chest. "Listen, Ashton. I would love to have a baby, especially with you. But we haven't even been together for six months. If it happens, it happens. But I don't know if we should intentionally try right now."

He looked down and nodded. "I'm sorry."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "What?"

"I'm sorry, Melody," he bit his lip.

"Why are you sorry, baby?" I gripped his jaw bringing him closer to my face. He had tears welling up in his eyes.

"I pushed it. I really pushed it, didn't I?" he avoided my gaze.

I pecked his nose. "You didn't do anything wrong, Ash."

He looked up at me. "Okay." Ashton smirked slightly. "You can't leave me at that."

He tightened his arms around the small of my back, pulling me towards him. He fell backwards on the couch. I wanted to lay my head against his chest and fall asleep, but I know he wouldn't be happy with that. I was okay with being a little romantic right now.

I stood up, Ashton following. He grabbed my hand as we walked back to my room.
