melody
I groaned, rubbing my forehead in attempt to soothe my throbbing ache.
"You okay?" Crystal peered from the kitchen.
I nodded tiredly. "Yeah, just that time of the month coming up.
Sierra and Samantha sent sympathetic frowns. "I just got off mine," Sierra told me.
I sighed. "Now I feel bad that we have to miss going shopping because of stupid mother nature. I'm ruining it for everyone else."
"Stop it," Crystal sympathized. "It's not your fault. We've all been there! We can go another time, Melody, it's fine."
"I'm such a sucky person," I whined.
Sierra shook her head furiously. "You are not a sucky person, Melody. You can't help it."
My phone dinged in my pocket. I slowly took it out, seeing a text from Ashton.
From Ashton:
Hey pretty girl! Want some chocolate?I smiled at the message.
From Me:
chocolate and you would be amazingFrom Ashton:
I'm on my way princess :)I sighed happily, leaning my head back on the couch. "Ashton is dropping off chocolates."
Everyone said 'aww' in unison, causing me to chuckle lightly.
"He's so good to you, Melody," Samantha raved.
I smiled tiredly, looking high. "I'm so lucky I guess."
"Look," she motioned to my necklace. "I bet he got you that."
I nodded. "We got matching ones a month or so back."
Soon enough, Ashton was at Samantha's house. There was a firm knock at the door.
"I'll get it," Crystal shouted, running to the door. She opened the oak, revealing my beautiful man.
"Hi, Crys," Ashton hugged Crystal before seeing me on the couch curled up in a ball.
He frowned, sitting next to me. "I'm sorry," he handed me a Hershey's bar.
I shook me head. "Don't be. It's not your fault."
He nodded. "Are we gonna wake up doused in blood tomorrow?"
I chuckled lightly. "Probably."
I looked to my friends. "You guys go shopping. I'll be fine."
Crystal furrowed her perfect eyebrows. "What? No, it's fine, we'll go again with you."
I shook my head. "I don't want you guys stuck at home sitting around when you're able to go out. Go, we can go another time. I'll go home with Ashton."
Sierra wiggled her eyebrows. "Alright, we'll go. Have a good time!"
I shook my head and laughed as we all went our ways. Ashton held my knee with his right arm as he drove. Suddenly a wave of nausea took over my entire body. My hand flung to my mouth before anything could happen.
"Ashton, pull over," I demanded.
"What-"
"Pull over."
He pulled to the side of the highway. I swung the passenger side door open, jumping out. Ashton followed behind me, confused and worried. I hunched over before puking my guts out. I heaved for a moment before more came out. This was probably some of the worst throwing up I had ever endured.
Ashton held my hair, massaging my back and kissing the nape of my neck.
I finally finished, standing upwards and panting. I wiped my mouth with my sleeve, looking back at Ashton sadly.
"You alright?" he checked.
I nodded. "I think I'm good."
We walked back to the car. Soon enough, we were at Ashton's house. We watched movies until ten at night, when we decided to call it quits and go to bed. I cuddled into Ashton, dreading the blood I would be seeing tomorrow.
"So it should be coming tomorrow, right," Ashton spoke.
I nodded. "I've been getting PMS symptoms for a week now, plus I'm due to get it tomorrow anyways.
Ashton hummed in response before the two of us fell asleep, wrapped in one another's embrace.
~~~
I yawned and stretch, sitting up from Ashton's chest.
"Wow," Ashton day up as well. "No blood on me. You didn't leak."
I furrowed my brows. "What? There's no way." I checked through all of the blankets tossing them around. There was no sign of blood anywhere. "I'm always on time," I mumbled.
"You always leak too, and get it by morning," Ashton mentioned.
The worst case scenario popped in my head. I'm pregnant. That's it. I'm pregnant.
I threw my head in my hands, tugging at the roots of my hair.
"Oh my God, Ashton," I murmured.
"What, baby?" he took my hands from my hair and instead ran his hands through it.
I shook my head. "You know what, nothing. I need to run to the store."
Ashton opened his mouth as if to say something, but didn't interrupt. I grabbed my purse and phone quickly. "I'm taking your car!" I called.
I hurriedly ran into Walmart and to the health section. I grabbed the cheapest tests that seemed somewhat reliable.
"Get these instead," a lady handed me a box of two Clearblue tests. "They tell you a final answer, more than those. They're a little more expensive, but trust me, it's worth it."
I nodded, taking the box. "Thank you."
She nodded, continuing down the isle.
I walked timidly to self checkout, paying for the tests and going.
When I got back home, I skidded to the bathroom downstairs so Ashton couldn't see me. "Gotta pee!" I called, trying to make my voice not sound nervous.
Time to see if I'm having a baby.
oop.
