Zayn’s POV

With a tired groan I dropped myself into the economy seat next to a silent, sulking Louis, who hadn’t spoken to me since we left the hospital. Even then, I could tell it was forced.

As there was no dialogue going on during the car ride, I had had enough time to carefully analyze Lou’s unexpected behaviour. Not once did he get extremely angry at me, and there still hadn’t been any sort of violence. All of this made me think that maybe… maybe Louis was worried. My words had stressed him tremendously, possibly because he believed I posed a threat. Did he really think I could steal Bailey away from him?

Honestly, if I could, I would have done that already.

The pilot announced a few words over the speakers, and eventually the aircraft lifted off of the ground and began its journey towards Ireland. My heart pounded sporadically, the fear about our coming task spreading everywhere. How were we, two barely mature adults, supposed to rescue people from this sick-minded gang? We already met one of their members, and they were frightening enough… how would we succeed with several of them surrounding us? We didn’t even know where to go once we arrived in Galway! Had no one thought this through?

“Zayn.”

My head snapped up to Louis, who was leaning with his back against the window and was watching me intentedly. Well, at least he’s talking.

“Louis.”

My friend’s lips twitched nervously as he thought, probably trying to formulate what he was trying to say. I sat and watched him in silence, my face void of emotions although inside, I was dying to admit everything. Yes, I love Bailey Leedens with all my heart!

“Why... why did you two…” Kiss. Why did we kiss.

Fuck. Now what, you disgusting asshole? You think you could actually confide in Louis about your true feelings? He’s Bailey’s boyfriend, for fucks sake. You honestly think that would be a good idea?

I looked away from the unforgiving stare Louis was giving me and sighed quietly. Of course I can’t tell Louis. How would that even work? I can’t ruin their relationship simply because I’m selfish.

Even though you are a selfish, disgusting brat.

I can’t do that them, especially not this far into their relationship. They’ve barely fought once, and I’m being selfish over here and trying to lead to their break-up? For fucks sake, Zayn, pull yourself together. You can’t keep being a dick just because you can’t get your feelings under control.

“Heat of the moment,” I finally managed to croak out. “It was nothing, I swear to god. I don’t even know what happened, it was so sudden.” Stop talking, you fucking idiot, before something slips out that you don’t want to say. “It meant nothing to me.”

Of course it fucking did!

“I felt nothing, and neither did she.”

I’ve never felt so alive in my entire life!

“That’s all there is to it.”

That’s not even half of the story! God, if you even knew what I felt for her…

Louis grunted and looked away, shifting so that his back was now facing me. After a few moments however, when I thought the conversation was over, he craned his neck to peer at me again. “I guess,” he muttered almost inaudibly, clearly not entirely believing me.

“Mate, I’m really sorry it happen, but I assure you I would never steal Bailey from you, because I feel nothing for her.”

Bullshit! Bull-fucking-shit!

Louis visibly relaxed and nodded, this time more confidently. “Well, do you regret it?”

“I-“

“Everyone please fasten their seatbelts and prepare for landing,” one of the stewardesses announced, cutting me off. Thankfully.

What would I even say? Would it make sense to lie? I mean… even if Louis thought I didn’t like her, would he believe that I regretted kissing the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. My god, she positively beams happiness…

Shut up, Zayn. Stop being a fucking selfish bastard. You will never get her. You don’t fucking deserve her, simply because you’re just too fucking disgusting for her. Or anyone. No one wants you. Stop trying, asshole.

“Yes, Louis. I regret it so much, and if you want to be mad at me I entirely understand. But please don’t let this ruin your relationship with Bailey.”

Fuck, please just leave her! Leave her to me! God damnit, why are you two so happy?

“You two are perfect together.”

No you’re fucking not! You are the worst possible couple I could ever imagine, simply because you stole the girl I fucking love away from me! Even if I never had a chance…

“No, Zayn, I understand. I believe you, I really do. I’m sorry I was so sullen, I was just… so worried I guess. I thought maybe you still… but I get you, and I apologize for making false assumptions,” he said humbly, pulling me in for a short hug.

They’re not false fucking assumptions, you prick! My god, Bailey…

Sooner than I wanted the plane landed and all of the passengers flooded off of the machine, including Louis and I. I turned my phone back on and made my way over to the immense waiting line for taxis, still trying to figure out where the hell we should go to look for them.

My phone binged, signalling a new text from an unknown number.

‘Dunmore Road 10,’ the message read, and I knew instantly what it was. The address to where ever the others were being kept.

“Louis, I know the address,” I told him with a low voice while dumping my small bag in the trunk of the first available cab. “Dunmore Road 10.”

“Says nothing to me, but great. Is it far from here?”

“Ask the guy,” I said, climbing into the backseat with my friend. “Dunmore Road 10,” I repeated to the taxi driver, who nodded and pulled out of the airport lot.

“How long will that take?” Louis asked nervously, his knee tapping on the floor of the vehicle spasmodically.

“It’ll be a long ride, guys. Three hours, I’d say.“

Great.

3 hours until we face them. 3 hours until we can try to save them.

3 hours until I can see Bailey again.
