Taylor looked up at him, trying to forget everything else that happened today. She smiled a little bit, "Sure."

"Okay, hop in," Joe opened the door for her and she sat in the passenger seat.

As Joe drove there was an awkward tension between them, neither one sure what to see. Do they talk about it? Do they pretend it never happened? They went with the latter.

"So did you hear the Demi was trying to convince Mrs. Snyder to give her Selena's role?" Taylor asked him, "I don't understand why she can't accept the fact that it's Selena's role, and she'll have to deal with being the understudy."

"Ugh, that's terrible," Joe frowned, "Is Selena alright?"

Taylor shrugged, "Yeah, she doesn't really care."

Joe nodded. Their conversation continued until they reached Taylor's house, and she got out of the car, waving goodbye to him. Taylor walked in the house, collapsing on the sofa. Her mom, Andrea came in the living room, watching Joe drive away.

"Oh is that the boy who invited you to the dance?" Andrea asked curiously, "What was his name again?"

"Um, no, that's Joe. The person who invited me was Tom," Taylor bit her lip. "I'm going to go do my homework now."

Andrea watched her as she went up the stairs. She could tell by her daughter's mannerism's that Taylor wanted it to be Joe that invited her. Deciding against trying to talk to Taylor about it, she simply went on cooking dinner.

The next day at school, Hailey was hanging off of Joe's arm wherever he went. For once Joe didn't completely mind, since Tom was trailing Taylor as well. He resisted the urge to roll his eyes at how Tom followed her around like a lost puppy.

At lunch, Joe sat with Hailey, but was constantly looking over his shoulder to watch Taylor and Tom. Taylor was doing the same, wanting to throw up in disgust as Hailey leaned on to Joe's shoulder. She wanted to run out of the room as she watched Joe wrap an arm around Hailey. Taylor and Joe's eyes met as Joe turned around for a split second, before quickly turning his head back as he realized Taylor was watching too.

Instead of running out of the room, Taylor did the opposite. She leaned her head on Tom's shoulder, and prompted Tom to put his arm around her. She turned quickly to see Joe looking at them. She smiled to herself, seeing it as a victory.

That was until Joe kissed Hailey's, cheek, telling her that she looked beautiful today. Taylor watched Hailey get all bashful, and kiss Joe's cheek in return. Taylor's face reddening, she turned to Tom. Bracing herself she leaned in, pressing a soft kiss on his cheek. Tom turned to her, grinning. Tom, in response, placed a kiss on Taylor's lips.

Tom was blissfully unaware of the 'competition' going on between Taylor and Joe, and was simply enjoying the PDA. Hailey on the other hand, knew exactly why Joe was being so affectionate, and yet that just made her enjoy it even more.

Over the next three days, Taylor and Joe continued the act. Whether it was passing each other in the hall while holding hands with Hailey or Tom, or one of them giving a kiss on Hailey or Tom's cheek as the other one of them walked by, Selena and Abigail were fed up with it.

Before class, they stopped Taylor in the hallway, having planned to do this via text last night. "Okay Taylor, we know this is just for show. Can you for the love of god please stop being so lovey-dovey with Tom?" Abigail asked, slightly annoyed.

Taylor got defense, "What? What do you mean? I'm not."

"C'mon Taylor, we see you only kiss him when Joe passes by. And we see Joe do the same to you! If this is some sort of competition you guys have just drop it." Selena chimed in.
