A bright light came into view as Taylor's eyes slowly opened. She groaned, moving her hand up to her head in attempt to stop the throbbing headache. "She's awake," Taylor heard an unknown voice call.
Suddenly Taylor saw familiar face appear above her head. "Joe?"
Joe let out a sigh of relief, "Oh thank god."
"I'm so confused, what's happening?" Taylor asked, trying to make sense of her surroundings.
Joe bit his lip, "It's a long story. I'm just glad you're okay."
He leaned down to give her a hug, much to Taylor's surprises. "I thought you hated me," Taylor said, confused.
"Let's put that behind us for now. We can talk later," Joe smiled at her.
"I have so many questions!" Taylor said, confused.
Suddenly a loud voice came rushing over, "Oh my god! Taylor!"
Selena came over to Taylor, looking panicked. "Abigail's on her way! I can't believe I let this happen. I can't apologize enough."
Taylor chuckled, "It's alright."
"I'm so glad your okay," Selena hugged her friend tightly.
Joe gave a little wave, walking away to give Taylor and Selena space.
"What the hell happened?" Taylor asked eagerly.
"Well from what I heard, someone pushed you into the pool, and you hit your head. You didn't come back up and after thirty or so seconds Joe jumped in and brought you back up. You weren't responding, so he called an ambulance. You were out for about a day, and now we're here. You weren't at school, but they wouldn't let me be excused early to go see you. Apparently Joe's been here with you," Selena made a quick explanation.
Taylor registered all of this, "Oh. So Joe's been here the whole time?"
"Yup. Doesn't it sound like the perfect love story? This guy saves you from basically drowning, then waits for a day in the hospital just so he could make sure you were okay," Selena gushed.
Taylor swatted Selena's arm, "Oh shut up. He might still hate me, and just feel bad, who knows."
"You should've seen him when I got here, he looked like a mess worrying over you," Selena giggled.
Taylor blushed, and inside her thoughts were running wild. "Oh whatever."
"Speaking of, I should probably let him get back in here. Abigail said she'd be here in about half an hour," Selena winked at her, standing up, "Have a good talk with Joe."
Taylor rolled her eyes, stopping when Joe came back in. Selena winked at Taylor before walking out of the room. "So how are you feeling?" Joe asked, taking a seat next to her.
"A little bit of a headache," Taylor shrugged.
Joe nodded, "The doctor said that was expected."
"Did I miss any school work?" Taylor asked.
Joe shook his head, "Probably not that much."
There was a lull of silence before Taylor spoke again, "Thanks for, uh, you know. Getting me out of the pool."
Joe had a soft smile on his face, "Of course."
Taylor sat up slightly in her hospital bed, "Selena sort of explained it, but I'm still slightly confused. What exactly happened?"
"Well I was just talking to a friend, then I turn and suddenly you were falling into the pool. I waited for a moment before realizing that you weren't coming up. Then I just jumped into the pool, and pulled you back out. Your head was bleeding, so I called an ambulance. Now here we are." Joe shrugged.
