It's Saturday Morning. Time for my first bass lesson!
I grab my bass and leap out of my window, as to not be detected by my father, and proceed to walk towards the given address. It's pretty far away, but I don't mind.

An hour later, I arrive. I really expected a school type thing, but no, it's just a normal house.
"hm." I hum to myself, and knock on the door.

I hear a lot of banging and running inside the house. That's quite worrying.

Suddenly, the door comes flying open and the mysterious Mickey Whale stands before me.

"Um...Hello! I'm here for a Bass lesson?" I say to him.

He nods, and leads me inside.

Maybe this was a bad idea. He seems off.

"Please sit down." He says quietly. His voice is awfully familiar...
I'm probably just imagining things.

"So you're a complete beginner, huh?"

"Yep! I've been saving up for four years for a bass. I'm so excited to begin my journey!" I grin. "I just have a quick question though..."

"Hm?" He looks at me.

"Um...Why are you covering your face?" I ask quietly.

"You needn't know that information." He says quickly and firmly. The tone of his voice scares me.

"O-okay."

"Right. Get your bass out. I'll go fetch mine from upstairs." Mickey says, and exits the room as I take my bass out of its case.

'Who is he, and why is he so familiar?' I think to myself. 'Mickey Whale sounds familiar to Mikey way.'
I smile to myself.

'Imagine he is Mikey, and that's why he's hiding his identity..' I chuckle at that thought. 'What am I even saying?! This isn't a Wattpad fan fiction.'

Mickey re-enters the room with a Silver Sparkly Bass.

"Wait, isn't that the same bass Mikey Way from My Chemical Romance has?" I question.

Mickey makes a sound that sounds like a gag and freezes like a deer in headlights.

"Uhm...I guess so." He says quietly, and takes a seat opposite me.

"Right. The notes you have on a four string bass are E, A, D, and G." He plays each note as he says the letter. "The thickest being E, and the thinnest being G."

"You can remember these notes by saying the following in your head:
Eddie
Ate
Dynamite
Goodbye."  He recites. "When you play a note without using the frets, it's called an Open Note."

He continues to explain further, and I listen carefully. I am determined to get this right.

"Okay, play along with me."  He says.

"Open E." He says, and I play an Open E.
"Open A." He says, and I play an Open A.
"Open D." I play an Open D.
"And..Open G." I play an Open G.

I smile. Progress!

"Well done. Now, we learn to use frets. Each fret has a number, going from 1 at the top, and down from there." He explains. "The White Dots signify the Third, Fifth, Seventh, Ninth, and so on, Frets, and the double white dots you see here signify the Twelfth Fret."

We go through all the Frets, and I understand them quickly.

"Congrats, you're a very fast learner." He says. It sounds like he's smiling.

"Do you want to try and play a small portion of an easy bassline?" He asks me.

"Sure." I nod.

"Okay. It's called 'Seven Nation Army', and it goes like this."

He plays the beginning of the song. He's right, it is quite easy!
I play it through, messing it up a bit the first few times due to fret buzz, but after a few plays, I nailed it!

"Good job!" He congratulates me. "That concludes our lesson for today. We'll continue tomorrow, okay?"

I nod, and begin to pack up.

"Oh, by the way..." I stop, "I might be late tomorrow."

"That's fine." He smiles.

We say goodbye, and I begin my journey home.
