Weeks had passed since the six Sakamaki brothers witnessed their long absent father use his own blood to wake their younger sister—a sister they had no idea existed.

Winter had since arrived and buried the mansion grounds in a thick, beautiful blanket of snow.

The family enjoyed every day together. In fact, none of the boys ever considered themselves to be much of a family. They were connected by blood, and though it was thick, that connection previously meant little to them.

That was until she came into their lives.

Haruna was living her dream. To be able to spend every day with her brothers, to learn everything about them, and to create lasting memories with each of them. This was all she ever truly wanted: a family. Her family.

This family, however, held many secrets. All the brothers wanted was to protect their sister. They wanted to cherish her smile, her scent, her laugh, her everything forever.

Being the daughter of such a powerful and centuries old family, the Sakamaki brothers knew better than to think they could hide her away and keep her all to themselves. However, they had hoped. And hope was something they scarcely allowed themselves before Haruna.

Shuu casually tossed an opened letter on top of Reiji's desk, obscuring what he was trying to read.

Reiji frowned and glared at his older brother who seemed to pay him no further attention.

Reiji looked back down and picked up the letter. He recognized the script.

"A letter from father? What is this."

"You can read." Shuu plopped down on the couch across from Reiji's desk and swung his legs up on the cushions.

Reiji gave a smug grin to no one in particular. To think not so long ago he was enjoying Haruna's blood on that very couch and enjoyed much more of her as well. The others were still not aware of what had happened between he and their sister but oh did he savor the thought of them drowning in jealously.

No matter. All things to those who wait.

He focused his attention back to the letter from their father and read:

Haruna,

In your slumber you have matured into quite the exquisite creature. The potential you harbor gives me hope that you may be the key to finally completing my life's work. I undervalued your existence when you were a child. That is a mistake I am intent on rectifying. As my one daughter, a princess of the Sakamaki name, I have high expectations of you indeed.

I desire to speak with you on these matters. Find me in a place that bites without teeth. Where there are featherless white birds which die in your hand. Like a phoenix, burned. Life in this place has yet to be reborn.

Your Beloved Father

"This is addressed to Haruna. Why do you have it?"

"She can't go."

Shuu kept his eyes shut and continued lounging. Reiji was already irritated at Shuu's refusal to make eye contact when speaking to his betters, but then he ignored his question as well.

"This is a direct order from our father. She has no choice but to obey."

Shuu appeared next to Reiji at an impossible speed. Reiji kept up his stoic poker face while the breeze created by Shuu's speed ruffled his hair. Truthfully, though, Reiji was a bit surprised. Shuu certainly wasn't known for his haste. He also wasn't known to have a temper like some of his brothers, and yet—
