Chapter XII - She's Not Going Anywhere

Subaru teleported into Reiji's now wrecked study and attempted to make sense of what he witnessed.

"Oi, Subaru! You're just in time. Pull up a seat!"

Ayato perched on a broken bookcase at one side of the room, cheekily watching Shuu and Reiji have at each other.

Near him were Kanato and Laito. Subaru followed their amused gazes to find Shuu and Reiji exchanging blows with each other. Both appeared to have minor injuries here and there but one no more than the other. They were equally matched and neither showed any sign of backing down.

This is what interrupted me and Haruna? These two bastards bickering!?

Subaru teleported between Shuu and Reiji, catching them both off guard. He threw a lightening fast punch to his right which connected with Reiji's cheek and knocked him back. Subaru then kicked towards his left and connected with Shuu's chest, knocking him in the opposite direction.

"Booo Subaru! You always ruin the fun!" Ayato cat-called from the side lines but Subaru paid him no mind. He was too busy with the two eldest brothers.

"What the hell are you bastards doing!?" Subaru looked from one brother to the other, fists still clenched, waiting for an answer.

"How dare you lay your filthy hands on me?" Reiji growled while rubbing his jaw.

Shuu held his hand to his chest where he had just been kicked. "Don't interfere. Or I'll kill you as well."

Subaru considered this a moment.

They mean to finally kill each other? This could perhaps work to my advantage. Fewer brothers to disturb me. And fewer to compete for Haruna.

Truly, it wasn't his responsibility to keep the two from putting an end to each other. Subaru slowly and deliberately moved away from the fight and chose a place next to the others to lean against with his arms crossed. Whatever the outcome of this, it mattered very little to him.

"Fine. If you mean to kill each other, then do it quickly at least."

Ayato, obviously pleased, cheered Shuu and Reiji on, "round two!!"

Shuu and Reiji went after each other once again. They threw punches and kicks and fought all over the disheveled room. To the human eye, they may have looked like a blur due to the speed at which they moved.

Ayato and Laito cheered the two men on while Subaru leaned against the wall, arms crossed, and eyes closed waiting for this annoyance to end. Kanato and his Teddy were also off to the side and Kanato had set Teddy atop his head to get a good view of the fight.

Each of the Sakamaki men were wrapped up in the chaos that they didn't sense a new presence in the room. The gentle presence of their sister.

Haruna moved with supernatural speed into Reiji's once tidy laboratory. She stopped just short of the two fighting brothers, a look of disbelief on her face.

"W-Why are you two doing this?"

All of the brothers were surprised to see her but surprise quickly gave way to shame. Particularly for Reiji and Shuu.

There was rubble and debris everywhere from shattered glass, broken pieces of furniture, etc. Haruna leaped over some debris which stood between her and her two eldest brothers. She did this so gracefully that she seemed to glide through the air.

When her feet landed back on the ground in front of the two men, she didn't make a sound. Her golden eyes worriedly shifted from one brother to the other.
