9. Annabeth's fear

Annabeth's POV

"So there is a new demigod in here?" said Atlas. I could see Atlas still burdened by the skies. I was in the ruins of Mt. Othrys, staring at the dark-robed man standing I front of him and talking to him.

"Yes, I have heard of him from that mortal school in San Francisco." said the mysterious man, "I don't know who his godly parent is, but apparently, he has quite a vile relationship with that son of Poseidon. They got into a fight in the school."

"That stupid Percy Jackson, he is the reason why I am still burdened by the skies and not conquering the world."

"I agree, lord Atlas."

"Tarsus, go to the school. Find who the godly parent of the demigod is and try to brainwash him. As he already been in a fight with Percy Jackson, I think you can manipulate him to join our forces and lure Percy in. Somehow, if I can give this burden to that demigod, I will kill Percy Jackson myself and then rule the entire world."

"Sure, my lord."

"Now proceed. Do not disappoint me."

My dream faded and I woke up with a start. Percy was still asleep, his arms on my lap as I got up. I lied again and placed Percy's hand on top of me. I was staring at his face. He was drooling, as expected. Soon, the alarm clock went off and Percy opened his eyes so suddenly that I was still staring at his face. He gave a goofy grin and said, "What?"

"Just seeing how oblivious can you get," I said with a sigh and turned the alarm off. I was about to get out of the bed when Percy pulled my hand, making me lie down again. Now, he was staring at me. "What?" I said.

He leaned for a kiss but I put a hand on his lips, blocking the kiss. "Now what?" he groaned. "Morning breath" I smiled and said while getting out of the bed. Percy was a little annoyed. He was stretching in the bed and groaning.

After doing the morning chores, we went to the breakfast table. Both my stepmom and dad were there. Dad read the newspaper while mom was getting breakfast ready. Both Percy and I said good morning while sitting for breakfast.

After having breakfast, we left for school. But, happiness never lasted forever. I had a gut feeling that I was being tailed. When I turned around, my blood froze. It was Nick, the jock of the school. He was wearing a black t-shirt and denim jeans. He had messed up black hair and he chewed a piece of gum. He was a complete nerd and wants to spend a night with every girl in school. And, this almost happened to me as well. When Nick saw that I noticed him following me, he put an evil smile on his face and came towards me. He said, "hey beth, how is it going?" he observed me from head to toe and continued, "you look hot, wanna spend some alone time with me?" he said while he was leaning to kiss me. But he never succeeded. Just when he was almost to my lips, Percy grabbed him from his neck and shoved him towards the nearby lamppost. His back hit the lamppost and he was groaning in pain. Percy picked him by his collar and was ready to punch him. I grabbed his arm to stop him.

He turned towards him and saw pure hatred and anger in his eyes. I nodded my head, implying don't-beat-him-as-he-is-not-worth-it. I also nodded in agreement and turned towards nick. He yelled at him, "Listen, bro, I don't know who you are and what were you trying to do when you leaned in front of Annabeth. But take this through your ears. I am her official boyfriend and only I have the right to kiss her. If I see you again harassing her, I swear to river Styx that I will make your school life a living hell. STAY AWAY FROM HER." Percy let him go and he sat down. In his eyes, I could see a pure expression of fear. I pulled Percy away so that he could not create any more nuisances in the pavement of the streets.

As I pulled him, I was assured that I had chosen the right person. He would always stay by my side and help me. But, I heard running from behind. Nick had gotten up and was running towards us. Percy was ready to give a 100-ton punch in his face, but this time, I grabbed Nick's hand and Judo flipped him. He fell in the pavement as I said, "Nick, I think you heard Percy. Stay away from me or Percy, unless you want to experience what hell is." He glared at me.

I ran towards the school, pulling Percy as I feared that he would kill Nick if he was left alone with him. When we reached there, I grabbed him to an empty corner and hugged him. He put his hands around me gently.

"Thank you" I murmured in his chest. I could feel the gentle smile on his face. He pushed me so that I was staring into his deep sea-green eyes. "I only did what I thought was right for my wise girl. And also, you have learned judo flip very well."

"Percy" I sighed "thanks for what you did. But you know that I can take care of myself?"

"Of course, but even if you can, I like to protect you. This makes me feel that I have done something for you and...And...It makes me feel that I am eligible for being your boyfriend."

"Thanks...." he leaned to kiss me and our lips met. I was a rather short kiss as the bell for the first class of the day rang. We pulled apart. "Let's go," I said while pulling him towards the maths room.
