After five months serving as a nurse, Y/N was more than happy to be back home in New York.

They were staying at the Schuyler's mansion with the rest of the officers and aide de camps, and despite having plenty of guest rooms, Y/N chose to board with Eliza. They had much to talk about, and this way the Schuyler sisters would be able to help Y/N prepare for her very first ball. She sure loved dressing up every so often, but this was an entirely new realm of expertise she would need to make it through the night.

The six revolutionaries were among the first to arrive, and when they reached the estate, Y/N and Eliza flew out of the carriage and into the arms of Angelica and Peggy.

As soon as they let go, Eliza asked breathlessly, "Father and Mother aren't upset, are they?"

Angelica shook her head. "They were at first, but they slowly got used to the idea. They are very excited to see you, though. And you as well, Y/N."

The girls sighed in relief, and Peggy and Angelica led them inside.

"So..." Peggy's eyes sparkled. "You guys have been around all the eligible males. Have either of you snagged a date yet?"

Y/N blushed, unsure if she was ready to tell them, but Eliza jumped at the question.

"I have!" She gushed, "His name is Alexander Hamilton and he is simply the most amazing person I have ever met..."

She continued to rave about Hamilton, and Y/N discreetly tuned out the conversation when Angelica and Peggy began to pepper Eliza with questions. She wondered where Lafayette was.

"...and we've been staying with him and Y/N's brother and their friends--"

"Wait, really?" Angelica gasped. "Who are the other guys? Have they been good to you?"

"Oh yes! All of them are so very sweet. There's me and Y/N, and Hamilton, and Y/N's brother Hercules, and John, and Lafayette--oh, Lafayette, I almost forgot!" Eliza whipped around and tugged on Y/N's wrist. "Y/N, tell them about Lafayette!"

Y/N shot a glare at her friend and blushed furiously. Angelica and Peggy gasped. "You don't mean the French general, do you?" Peggy said, "Everyone has been talking about him! Do you like him, Y/N?"

      Y/N nodded sheepishly.

"Please tell me he's your date for the ball," Angelica said seriously, and then, seeing Y/N's confirmation, she squealed. "Ooooh, everyone is going to be so jealous of you!"

The girls laughed. Y/N smiled. "Well, let them talk. I'll only have eyes for him."

The Schuyler Sisters all sighed dreamily, and then the four of them giggled.  They reached Angie's room and piled onto her bed.

Angelina's eyes sparkled. "Well, as for Peggy and I, we will spend the evening in search of potential courtiers."

Peggy nodded in agreement.  "Eliza, didn't you say there were two other men you were staying with?"

Eliza gasped. "Oh yes! Y/N's brother Hercules, and his friend John Laurens. We'll be sure to introduce you two!"

They talked like this for hours, catching up, telling stories, planning their outfits for the ball. They decided to have a sleepover in Angelica's room, and in the morning, they would prepare for the night of their lives.

Alex, John, Lafayette, and Hercules peeked around the corner of the hall. They were the first of the guests to arrive, but it appeared that the Washington's had reached the Schuyler mansion a few hours after they did.
