Hitoshi couldn't help the nervousness that was pooling in his gut as he walked out into Ground Beta. Maybe it was because of the pressure, or maybe because he knew his entire class was watching. Whatever the reason, he couldn't quite pinpoint it.
Kaminari was just as silent, though he didn't appear to be stressed, at least. Shinsou didn't know if that was relieving or not.
But, as he should have expected, Denki didn't stay silent.
"This is going to be great," he whispered to his partner, grinning ear to ear. Hitoshi assumed he was trying to ease his nerves. Even if he wasn't, it was still working.
"Why's that?" he asked, trying not to pay attention to the center of the field as they started to near it. Shinsou and Kaminari had been assigned the South gate, so they were walking in from the North one. Aizawa had said something about getting to know the terrain on your side would be an advantage to you, so he made the teams walk in from the opposite direction. It made sense, Hitoshi supposed.
"Because," Denki jeered, leaning in closer so that only Shinsou would hear. Not that anyone else was around to hear Kaminari even if he had spoken normally. "Mina has a crush on Uraraka. And since they're working together..." He trailed off, grinning. Shinsou just blinked at him. Ashido liked Uraraka, now? Jeez, that was getting complicated. He didn't know whether to laugh or to groan.
He didn't get to do either, though, as they reached the center area of Ground Beta. Hitoshi was glad his nerves had decided to ease up on him, at least a little bit.
They stopped walking, staring at the opposing team that stood face to face with them.
"Good luck," he heard Uraraka say, and the fire in her eyes told Shinsou he was going to need it. He gulped. He and Denki had a loose plan, but he wasn't even certain if it would work. What were Mina and Ochako up to?
"Three!" he heard Present Mic scream somewhere above him, and he forced down his nervousness. "Two!" He readied himself, pulling his persona chords up over his mouth and grabbing onto his capture weapon, just in case. "One!" He heard Denki take a deep breath beside him, clearly ready to put their plan into action. "Go!"
Shinsou stayed right where he was, according to Kaminari's plan. He was to draw as little attention to himself as possible. That wasn't very difficult, though, when he wasn't the one with the flashy quirk.
Kaminari lunged forward, quick to avoid Uraraka. They both knew it was bad news if they were tapped by her. Denki managed to evade Mina, scrambling away and taking off down towards their gate. Hitoshi couldn't hear, but he saw Ashido quickly say something to her teammate before sprinting off after Denki, shooting acid at him as he ran.
Crap.
That wasn't part of the plan.
Uraraka wasted no time in running at Hitoshi, who had to crouch to avoid being touched. He raced to the buildings, ducking into an alleyway and weaving around brick walls. He could hear the loud pounding of feet against concrete behind him, alerting him that he hadn't lost Ochako just yet.
He ran through more buildings, more alleys, but with every turn, he just couldn't shake her. Eventually, he decided it was pointless, especially with the loud thrumming in his ears keeping him from being able to tell how close she was. Most likely, she was gaining on him.
So, he darted back out into the open, snapping his head from side to side to try to look for Kaminari. He spotted him a little farther back, though still on the South side, and dashed over to where he was fighting Ashido.
Making sure to stay out of the way of Denki's lightning so he wouldn't have to worry about hitting him, Shinsou whirled around just in time to narrowly avoid being tapped by Uraraka. He ducked out of the way and kicked her in the side with all of his might-- a trick Aizawa had taught him in training if he were being snuck up on. It worked, and she went flying to the ground, landing a few meters in front of Kaminari, which left her right in range.
