Detention

This wasn't the first time Shinsou'd had detention. Hell, this wasn't the first time he'd had it for something he didn't do. Just his luck, he supposed.

Though it was still unnerving having to head back to Aizawa's classroom after his final class of the day instead of going back to his dorm.

In general detention procedure, Aizawa was standing at his door, waiting. Shinsou gave him a deadpan expression as he passed by, his mentor's eyes practically boring into his skull. Hitoshi had to starve off a shiver from running down his spine.

Entering the room, he immediately noticed that Aoyama hadn't arrived yet. Thank God. Hitoshi already hated that he'd have to deal with the blond for the rest of the afternoon, and he detested the idea of spending any more time with him then he had to.

Tsuyu, though, had already arrived and was sitting patiently at a desk, swinging her legs under the chair as her head rested in her palm. She looked up as Shinsou entered, giving him a small smile as he sat a couple of desks away from her to be able to keep his space, but still talk to her. Out of everyone in the Dekusquad, she was the most manageable and the easiest to tolerate.

"Hey," she greeted, directing a small wave at Shinsou, who silently returned it as he set down his backpack.

He wondered what they would be doing. He'd heard that Aoyama would be cleaning the school, and he grimaced at the idea of having to scrub down the filthy school floors. Aizawa had better not make him clean as well. He didn't even do anything! He still felt like he didn't deserve to be here.

Neither did Asui, honestly. Maybe he'd try to talk their teacher out of the detention. They shouldn't even be there. Shinsou was considering telling Aizawa the truth about Tsuyu covering for Tokoyami.

Speaking of, in sixth period, Hitoshi had received confirmation of the frog girl's crush. Todoroki had told the new student that Asui had, inevitable, confessed to the rest of the group that, yes, fine, she had a crush on Tokoyami. Apparently, Midoriya had squealed so loudly that he'd been shushed by about five or six other students at once. Todoroki and Shinsou'd had a good laugh about that, though they disagreed on whether Midroiya squealing was "undeniably cute." Shouto's words, not Hitoshi's, of course. He still found it deniable.

"Can I ask you something?" Asui asked, snapping Shinsou from his thoughts. He gave her a quizzical look, or as much of one as he could manage.

"Sure," he said, shrugging. Based on Tsuyu's abrupt nervousness, Shinsou could safely guess this was some sort of serious question. Hitoshi had assumed that she would have been a lot more like Kaminari, if he were to be honest. She seemed like she had a bit of a more dry sense of humor than him, but he had guessed she'd have that bubbly personality, bright and cheerful with a lot of fun and harmless jokes sprinkled in. Turned out, she was a lot more mature than Denki. At least someone in class 1-A seemed to have a brain. Not that Kaminari didn't-- well, maybe he had half of one-- but he also wasn't exactly the brightest crayon in the box.

"Well," Tsuyu started, once again drawing Shinsou from his own thoughts, which he really needed to stop getting lost in and just pay attention, "Do you think that Ochako is acting kind of strange?"

Hitoshi just shook his head. "I don't know her well enough to know," he deadpanned, fixing her with an apologetic glance. She let out a soft sigh but still continued.

"I don't know what's wrong, but something is definitely up. She barely even talked to me in fifth period." She paused, staring down at her hands clasped together in the middle of her desk before looking up into Shinsou's eyes. "Do you think she's mad?"

He nodded, glancing away. "Sounds like it," he said. Tsuyu let out a frustrated sigh.

"Why, though? Why would she be mad?"
