It is finally moving day! Lucky for me the 1st landed on a Friday so I only needed to take one day off work. Christian told me he would handle all of today's work so I could get settled in. We have been getting along really well but I am trying to keep things on a friendly level. I want to find myself before getting involved with anyone whether it ends up being him or not. I need to heal myself before I can fully give myself to anyone else.

The movers arrived at 8:00 this morning. Mitchell took the day off to help me get packed up. I left most of the furniture for him since he purchased a house and would need to fill it. We packed up the few large items I did take as well as my boxes of personal items.

"What are you going to do for furniture? Are you sure you don't want to take more of this stuff?"

"It won't fit in my apartment. I will be okay. I don't need much to live on."

"Still I would feel better if I knew you had somewhere besides a couch to sleep on."

"I am having a bed delivered tomorrow as well as new dressers and nightstands. It will only be one night on the couch."

"You could just stay here tonight if you wanted to."

"No, I will be okay. I promise."

The movers slammed the door shut and we drove off to meet them at my new apartment.

"Wow. This is nice Adrianna. I see why you loved it so much."

"Thanks Mitchell."

The movers bring the items up and Mitchell helps me put down the rug and place the couch and tables in the living area.

After we get all of the boxes inside I plop down on the couch. "Want some pizza?" He laughs and plops down beside me. "Yeah sure."

I call and order a pepperoni pizza as well as a 2 liter of Diet Coke since I don't have anything to drink here. "They said it will be 30 minutes so we can just rest until then."

Mitchell looks over at me with a sad look in his face "I can't believe we are here. I really thought we would make it."

I sighed and took his hand in mine "I did too Mitchell. We were so young and full of love and life. I was certain we would never be in this position. You don't know how sorry I am and how much I wish this wasn't the ending of our story."

He pulled my hand up to his lips and kissed the back of it. "You never know what the future holds Adrianna. I guess it just wasn't meant to be for us."

A tear slipped down my face as I sat next to my husband who would no longer be mine in a few months. How had we gotten here? Was it our disagreement in having children? We both worked and he didn't want anything to get in the way of our careers. He was open to adopting later in life but I was willing to cut my hours to be a mom sooner. Did we not spend enough time together? Or was it just my affair that ended us?

We sat in silence. Each of us deep in our own thoughts until there was a knock on the door. I shot up from the couch releasing my hand from Mitchells and grabbed the pizza. We sat on the couch together and ate together for what would probably be the last time.

"Well I better get going. I have a few work things I need to catch up on and I'm sure you would like to get settled in. What time are you coming to get Nelly tomorrow?"

"Probably around noon. Will you be home?"

"Yes but you do have a key. It is still your home Adrianna."

I smile "I know Mitchell. I will see you tomorrow."

He smiled and placed a kiss to my lips before turning around and leaving.

I spent the rest of the afternoon unpacking a few boxes of clothes and putting them away in my closet. Feeling exhausted I found the box of blankets and laid down on the couch wrapped up in one.

KNOCK. KNOCK.

I jumped up. Holy crap what time is it? 5:30! I slept too long!

KNOCK KNOCK

I hopped off the couch and opened the door. "Hey Christian." I said out of breath.

"Hey Adrianna. Did you forget I was coming over?"

"No. I just laid down for a quick nap and I guess I was tired."

"Well are you going to invite me inside or should I take this Chinese food and beer home to eat by myself."

I laugh and step aside so he can enter. We sit down at the kitchen island and eat our dinner.

"So how was work today? Did I miss anything important?"

"No it was a light day. I answered a few emails but other than that it was pretty boring. How did moving go this morning?"

"It was good. We got everything moved quickly. I started unpacking my clothes and a few things but still have to work on the kitchen stuff. I have furniture arriving tomorrow and a TV! Sorry we won't have any entertainment while you help me unpack."

Christian chuckles "No worries. You are all the entertainment I need." I blushed.

"Well let's get started then." I say to him as I pick up a box labeled kitchen.

We head into the kitchen putting away dishes, silverware, pots and pans and all things kitchen related. I am putting pans away in the lower cabinet while Christian is leaning over and putting cups away above me. I turn my head and am eye level with a big bulge. I gulp and shoot straight up knocking a cup out of Christian's hand. Christian jumps and it crashes to the ground.

"Oh my Adrianna are you okay?" I respond, blushing "Yes. I am so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you like that." "I'm fine. Do you have a broom here yet so I can clean this up?" "I will get it, don't worry." "What made you jump up like that? You act like you saw a ghost." I laugh "Umm.. I just.. I thought I saw a spider." I internally facepalm. Real smooth Adrianna. "A spider huh? Are you sure you are going to be able to handle living alone?" "Very funny. I will be fine."

We spend the next hour setting up my new kitchen before we settle on the couch with a beer.

"You know Adrianna I am proud of you." My eyebrows furrow "Why's that?" "You are taking this huge step. You are doing something for yourself for once. You always put everyone else's needs before your own and you deserve a chance to concentrate on yourself." I can feel my cheeks blush as my heart melts from his sweet words. I look down to hide my face "Thanks Christian. That means a lot." I feel his hand cup my chin as he turns my head to look at him. "Do you know how cute you are when you blush?" I giggle and smack his chest. "Oh hush." He laughs and releases my chin.

"Well I better get going." "Are you sure you don't want to share this little couch with me?" I ask with my lip puckered. He chuckles "As cute as you are I will let you enjoy your first night alone." I smile and walk him to the door. He bends down and kisses me on the cheek "Goodnight Adrianna." "Goodnight Christian."
