Talan takes off his cape. Come to think of it, I've never seen his casual wear. As soon as his cape is off it disappears. He's wearing A thin sweater underneath a dark blue t-shirt, and black sweatpants.

"I still need to teach you some more things. Teleportation is the first one, and you should take off your uniform," Talan advises as he sits down.

I take off my uniform but, unlike his, it doesn't go anywhere. I also notice that he changed the subject fairly quickly.

"Teleportation isn't a mandatory skill, but it's quite useful to know, so I advise you learn it."

"I'm in. Teleportation is something that I never thought existed, along with most of this."

"Okay. We will be starting off with smaller items, as it can be hard to teleport large things," he hands me an apple and grabs another for himself, "Think of a spot in this room, and will the apple to appear there."

I do as he says, but the apple appears a metre away from the spot I wanted it to go.

"It's not at the exact spot. Is that normal?"

"That happens quite often to newbies. It will appear about five to seven feet away from the desired spot. Try it again." He starts eating his own apple and gives me another.

I assume five to seven feet is around the same distance as one metre. I try again and it appears closer, but not at the exact spot. Talan hands me another apple and we continue like that until I get it perfect several times over. We gradually start working our way through larger items. They appear a metre away less and less. When we reach the largest item, a chair, I teleport it to the exact spot on the first try.

"I think you're ready to try to teleport your magic item. Magic items are the hardest things to teleport, So might not even be able to move it on the first try."

"You're a good mentor. Mr. Silvia made it sound like you weren't good at communicating, but I guess he was wrong."

"Well, I didn't want to avoid people. I just didn't have much of a choice. They were all too afraid of me, every time I tried to approach someone, they would run off. Everyone judged me based on my skill level and what happened that day."

I look up at Talan's face. I can tell that he wanted to make friends, but also didn't want to hurt anyone.

"You're a good guy. People that judge you based on something that happened years ago don't deserve to know the real you," I give him a smile of reassurance.

"Thanks, Alex. We should continue on your lesson."

He's right. We don't have much time until it's eleven o'clock. I try to teleport my scythe, but nothing happens. I have to try it ten times over before I'm able to get it to move. When it does teleport though, it appears in the exact spot I pictured.

"Great job! We have one last thing to do. Teleport yourself. The only difference between you and the items is that it's more dangerous to teleport yourself, but the easiest thing to teleport. You just have to imagine yourself instead of an item."

I start to teleport, and then see a flash of darkness. It's gone as fast as it came, and I am now sitting on top of Talan's table. I feel some dizziness that quickly fades, which I guess is normal.

I yawn only now realizing how tired I am. I pick my uniform up and look at Talan. He looks as tired as I am.

"I'm going to head back to my room. Goodnight Talan."

"Goodnight Alex," He yawns, giving me a small wave.

I close his door quietly and make my way through the winding hallways. I see a lot of familiar rooms and eventually get to the elevator. Talan is on the floor below mine. I push the button for the top floor and am greeted with a new face when it opens. As soon as I step out I get knocked off my feet by a Phanter. They seems to be in a hurry.

"I am so sorry! Are you okay? I wasn't watching where I was going. Hold on, you're the other newbie, aren't you? Talan is your mentor, right? Is he as scary as everyone says? Oh, I'm Benji! And you should know that my pronouns are they them."

They talk too much, but I try my best to answer their questions,"I'm fine, and Talan isn't scary at all. He's just misunderstood. My name is Alex."

I stand up and get a better look at them. They look to be around seventeen and have very distinct freckles. They have a pink toque on and a light purple sweater. Their pants are just jeans, but have some embroidery of flowers on the front pockets. Their hair is a pastel blue, and their eyes are pink and brown.

"So what are you doing here? I thought all the newbies had to be on their floor by twelve," that was mentioned in the orientation, "It's basically twelve already."

"It is? I was just going to bring this to my mentor. She left it in my room during our daily lesson."

"Just teleport it to her."

"Well in order to teleport things you have to picture the place in you mind. I haven't seen her room yet, so I can't picture it. This is also her magic item and I can't even teleport a box yet, yet alone a magic item."

"I see. Can you describe her to me? I might be able to teleport it to her person."

"How? You've only been here a day. There's no way you can teleport an M.I already! I've been trying to for a week so far."

"I just can? I don't really know why or how. But if I know what she looks like then I can help."

"Okay, I guess I can trust you. She has long red hair and sunglasses. She was wearing a plain black sweater and pink leggings. She's Japanese and short."

I think I know who Benji is talking about. She stood out to me when we were downstairs earlier. She wasn't scared of Talan and was just sitting back in a chair with her hood down.

I take out my notepad and pen, "We should send a note with so she know that it was us."

I write down that she left it in Benji's room and sign it with mine and Benji's names. I picture her and imagine it appearing on the floor next to her. The flooring is the same throughout the building, so it's not that hard. I feel it disappear from my hand.

"There you go."

"Thank you so much! I don't know how you did it but that was amazing!"

We start walking down the hall to our rooms as Benji blabbers on about how I was so cool and how they suspected that Talan was a good guy. We get to my room and I say my goodbyes before seeing that Benji lives just across the hall.

When I get inside I make myself a sandwich and flop on my bed, falling asleep quickly. Using magic is exhausting.
