Benji starts making dinner as soon as we get home and I help to wash dishes from this morning. Al goes to her room, and neither Benji or I ask questions. He has been distant, but also more caring and I think something must have happened to him. I feel like I would be intruding if I asked her about it.
I finish washing the dishes when Benji almost finishes on dinner. I tell Al to come down and he grabs a plate of food then heads up to his room.
"What's up with them?" Benji asks, knowing that I'm wondering the same thing.
"Beats me. I feel like we should ask them about it later."
"I agree. By the way, we should make reservations for our date."
"Right."
"You said you knew a place?"
"I did, but now I completely forget about it. I know the place exists, but I can't remember what it looks like or what it's called."
"That's fine, We can find another place."
We don't talk about much during the rest of dinner, but we notice Al come down and put their dishes in the sink. We do the same when we're done and sit back down in the living room.
"So, let's look for a good restaurant. We should also make a separate call and reserve a table for Al because we can't exactly leave without him."
"Fine by me."
We find a place called 'The Exquisite' and call.
"Hello, how can I help you?"
"Um, hi. I would like to make a reservation for tomorrow night."
"Okay, and for how many people?"
"It will be for two please."
"Sure thing. Just give me your first and last name and you'll b good to go."
I didn't think about my last name. I don't remember what is was. I look over to Benji to see if he remembers, but I don't think they get the message. Al chooses that time to walk in and I can only hope that they know it. I give them a look and they somehow understand it.
"Sir? Are you still there?"
"Ah, yeah sorry."
Your last name is Seles. Benji thinks. This link comes in handy sometimes.
"The name is Alex Seles."
"Did you say Seles? Oh my gosh, do you mean the singer and the heir to the famous Seles Corporation? I'm a huge fan! I can get you a discount if you want. I'm a huge fan."
Well, at least now I can remember the name of my company.
"Ah, no that's fine. I don't need a discount."
"Are you sure? I'm sure if you give the manager an autograph you can get a discount. Probably around fifty percent. Let me check."
"No, really, it'll be fine. We can sort it out when I get there."
"I-okay. Was that all?"
"Actually, could you reserve another table for one a few tables away from mine? My bodyguard is accompanying me."
"Sure! I'll get right to it!"
With that, she hangs up.
"What was that?" Benji asks.
"A fan girl I guess. Apparently I was a singer and am the heir to my family's corporation. I also told her that my bodyguard is coming with and she reserved another table. Al, you'll be a bodyguard for the night tomorrow. Also, we should look up some of my songs. For our eyes we can tell them that it's a new thing for my fans and bodyguards."
"Wow. You're more famous than I thought," Al says.
"So that's where I knew your name from. I was your biggest fan, and now I'm dating you. Living me would be screaming."
"Well, I guess we should look up some of my songs, I'm sure they'll be easy enough to memorize."
We go onto YouTube and search my name. There is a lot of news about me going on hiatus or a few months for education. That's a good enough excuse for now. When I look at my songs
I see that there are only four, two of which are covers. My popularity probably grew because of that, and I must have only started a few months ago. Why would I choose to do that? I thought I hated being famous. I do like singing though, so I guess there's that. The two covers are of Boys will be Bugs by Cavetown and Body by Mother Mother. Those should be easy enough to memorize, but I'm worried about learning my original songs. Hopefully I knew them enough to just have to refresh my memory.I listen to the songs over and over by themselves and them look up lyric videos to sing to. I do this for about two hours and then head to bed. Benji and Al left when I was halfway through after complimenting me. It takes twenty minutes for me to sleep, despite me being exhausted. I have to do more research on myself when I get the chance. For now, I should rest.
In my dream, I'm on a stage. I'm singing my heart out and look like I'm enjoying myself. The me on stage catches my eye and smiles. I know what he means. This is one of the only things I enjoyed. The feeling of walking onto the stage and performing suddenly washes over me. That joy and excitement mixed with the tiny bit of anxiety. The thrill of the crowd cheering me on. It's amazing. I can now see why I chose to sing on stage. Because there are people cheering and everyone in the crowd seems so happy. The cheers are what kept me going up on that stage. All the fans, and some of them didn't know me from my family's corporation, but from a friend or other recommendations.
"Hey, you look so happy. Why is that?" one of the fans says.
"Because I love this flashback. It warms my heart."
The person just stares at me with a judging look and backs off. I wake up right then and look at the clock. It's seven in the morning. I start getting ready for work and go to see if Benji and Al are awake.
Benji is in the kitchen cooking breakfast and Al is in the living room. I say good morning and sit on the couch.
