(Y/n) woke up to the sound of thunder. Perfect, (y/n) thought sarcastically. Groaning, the girl reached for her phone to check the time, however, she had forgotten to plug it in the night before and as a result it was dead. (Y/n) didn't want to get out of her comfy bed but her bladder told her otherwise. Slipping out from under the warm covers, (y/n) hurried to the bathroom.

When she had finished her business, she tried to quietly return to her room but she ended up stubbing her toe and yelping. At the sound of her daughter's distress, (m/n) came running.

"Are you ok?" Her mom asked, voice dropping in concern. (Y/n) grunted in response and stumbled to her bed. (M/n) sat down beside her. (M/n) sighed when (y/n) flipped so that her back was to her mom.

"You don't have to talk I just need you to listen to me." (M/n) pleaded. "I know this is hard on you. Leaving everything familiar behind for something new and uncertain. Having to leave your friends behind but you will finally be able to meet your cousin Alya." (Y/n) whipped her head around.

"I have a cousin named Alya??? Why did I not know this??" (Y/n) freaked out.

"How 'bout I tell you all about your family in Paris over doughnuts? How does that sound?" (M/n) bribes to get her daughter out of the house. (Y/n) didn't want to give in but having doughnuts was definitely better then not having doughnuts. She reluctantly nodded.

-15 minutes later-

After ordering their doughnuts, they sat down at a booth.

"What do you want to know?" (M/n) told her daughter.

"Why did I not know about my cousin Alya? Why are they in Paris and we are in America? Did you used to live in Paris? If so, why did you move to America? Do I have any other secret cousins?" (Y/n) fired at her mom.

"First, you didn't know about Alya because I never brought her up. I never wanted to go back to Paris and I thought that if you knew about her you would want to visit her. When I met your birth father, I was in high school. A few years later, the summer after we finished college, I was pregnant with you. However, we were both so young that your father left. I moved away from Paris right before I had you because seeing all the places we used to go together and seeing all our old friends was too painful. So I left. And to answer you final question, no you do not have any more secret cousins. Or if you do they are a secret to both of us." (M/n) explained, ending with a giggle.

"What was my birth fathers name?" (Y/n) asked intrigued with the story of her mom's past.

"His name was-" "Here are your doughnuts." The waiter interrupted, setting a box full of twelve delicious doughnuts on the table. For the next hour, mother and daughter bonded over doughnuts.

When they pulled into the driveway, (m/n) turned of the engine but didn't get out. (Y/n) felt that there was something she wanted to say and stayed in too.

"(Y/n) I am truly sorry (s/f/n) and I didn't go over the move with you and we shouldn't have made the decision right then but we had to and I thought it would be the right decision and (s/f/n) looked so happy and-" (y/n) cut her off with a hug.

"I know that if given the time you would've discussed it with me. It still really hurts that I'm going to have to give up my life here but if it will make you happy I'll try to be excited." The girl said pulling away to smile at her mom.

(M/n)'s face broke into a wide grin. "I'm so happy! I promise I'll be more open with you from now on and discuss things before making a final decision. You aren't a child anymore and I have to learn to accept that. I pinky promise I will try." She said holding out her pinky. (Y/n) hooked her pinky around her mom's. "Pinky promise."

They spent the whole day lounging with a few study breaks squeezed in there because (y/n) had a huge math test on Monday.

It wasn't until later that night, after everyone was already in bed that (y/n) realized she never got to hear her fathers name. Oh well, she thought.

-the next morning-

(Y/n) awoke to the sound of a loud bang coming from the living room. Still half asleep, (y/n) looked over at her alarm clock and saw that it was 8:03 am. Way too early to get up, she said and picked up her phone to text (b/f/n).

Hey! Wanna hangout today?

Knowing (b/f/n) would be getting as much sleep as possible, (y/n) knew that it could be a while before she got a response. Another loud crash scared the bejeezes out of her.

What is going on out there??? She got out of bed and stumbled down the steps and into the living room.

(M/n) and (s/f/n) were cleaning up glass around a box.

"What happened?" Asked the confused girl as she stared at the growing pile of shards of glass.

"Well you know that lamp I bought a few weeks ago?" Replied (m/n) shyly with a blush. (Y/n) chuckled, of course she knocked it over, she thought.
I told her not to get the glass one but did she listen to me? Nooooo, it had to be the glass one.

"What's the box for?" (Y/n) asked.

"Packing, of course!" (S/f/n) replied. He was met with a sigh.

A/n: Soooooo, how did you guys like it??? Do you think there are any more secret cousins? Who do you think (y/n)'s birth father is? I love hearing y'all theories. It makes me happy to think that people are actually enjoying my book and it isn't a waste of my time! Also, I know updates aren't very frequent as it is, but it might take a while longer for chapters to come out because A: I started school and that is first priority, B: I really want to start adding in Miraculous characters but I still have a little bit more to do before they come in and so I'm trying not to rush it so it is a bit harder to write the chapters. Thanks for understanding! Love all of you beautiful people!
