(Y/n) awoke feeling fully refreshed, which was weird because she should've only gotten 7 hours of sleep but felt like she got 12. (Y/n) gasped when she looked at the time on her phone.
10:38 a.m.
"Oh no! Oh no! Oh sh-" (y/n) got cut off when her mother walked into her empty room. Everything had been packed up over the past couple of days, including the beds.
"MOM! How could you not wake me up? I'm late for school!" Wow, I never thought I would complain about missing school. (M/n) explained that she turned off (y/n)'s alarm because they were taking the day to themselves as a family because once they got to Paris they would be really busy. "We will go to the park, finish packing and go out to dinner!"
After agreeing that they would leave in 30 minutes, (y/n) slipped into the bathroom to take a shower. The wet girl realized that the towels had all been packed up the day before. After giving herself a well-deserved face-palm, she called for her mom. Laughing, (m/n) gave (y/n) the blanket she had used the night before to dry off.
Getting dressed in a navy blue mini-skirt and a black tank top. (Y/n) twisted her hair into a French braid that started on the top of her head. Adding a light coat of shimmery lipstick to her lips and a dark mascara to her already dark lashes (y/n) finished getting ready for the busy day ahead.
-timeskip-
The family parked the car and stretched taking in the view of the nice spring day. The wind blew calmly on (y/n)'s skin. As they walked down a path, (s/f/n) asked (y/n) what she was looking forward to the most about the move.
After a moments thought she replied, " Seeing all the cool landmarks, I guess. Like the Eiffel Tower and the L'ouvre."
As they neared the fishing lake, an abundance of noise could be heard. Dang, people can be so annoying. We are just trying to a take a peaceful walk an- (y/n)'s thoughts were interrupted by a person squeezing her in a tight hug.
"SUPRISE!" Shouted the group, who (y/n) could now identify as classmates and friends. It's my annoying people! The amused girl thought, laughing as she was smothered in more hugs by numerous people.
A big banner right next to the crystal blue lake read 'Bon Voyage' in (f/c) glittery markers. A miniature cake, which looked suspiciously like the L'ouvre sat on a table with a pile of gifts surrounding it.
(Y/n)'s heart filled with so much love and admiration for her companions that it flowed over and out of her eyes. (Y/n) wiped her tears as she tried to soak it all in. The elated girl then turned to her parents who both had goofy grins on their faces.
"You knew about this, didn't you?" (Y/n) asked. "Well duh!" Her mother responded sounding like a ten year old.
"We're your parents, we know everything about you." Smiled (s/f/n).
(B/f/n) leaned over and whispered, "I hope they don't know about the time you ate the paper clip and-" (b/f/n was cut off by a familiar cute face glancing shyly at you.
Kyle walked over and asked if he could speak to you privately. Before (y/n) could answer, (b/f/n) sprinted over to where Amber was talking with some other kids from her science class.
"So,' Kyle started out. "I know we won't get to go to the dance together on Friday but I got you a little something to remember me by." Kyle pulled out a box, however, it fell out of his hands.
As he bent down to retrieve it a shouting in the distance grew steadily louder, shouting, "NOOOOOO!!! She's too young!!!!"
Before (y/n)'s eyes, (s/f/n) tackles Kyle to the ground. During all of this the box popped open and a quaint charm bracelet peeks over the edge. When (y/n) retrieved the gift she spotted a white charm dangling from it.
A moonlark .
A moonlark ? (Y/n) wondered. Why a moonlark ? Is it a significant meaning in some way? What if he thinks I should know what it means but since I don't he realizes that he doesn't like me anymore and he takes back his charm and we depart on bad terms! No I can't let that happen! What significant meaning could a moonlark have?? Think (y/n), think!
(Y/n)'s train of thought was interrupted when she felt a trembling hand on her shoulder. "Do you like it?"
(Y/n) turned and told Kyle she loved it. "Why are you trembling?" She asked concerned.
"You're step-father is scary." He whispered. (Y/n) looked over to where (m/n) was giving (s/f/n) a stern talking to. The embarrassed girl heard him apologize to Kyle but without an apologeticness in his tone.
Boys
A/n: Hi! I hope you haven't forgotten about me! Sorry it's been so long! I haven't had a lot of inspiration but I am going to try and get a chapter out each month. I know those are slow updates but school is really hard this year and so I don't have as much time for writing. Also, I'm not sure if moonlarks are real but it is a bird from the amazing book series Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger (you should really read it! And if you already do, UNLOCKED COMES OUT IN 24 DAYS!!!) and I needed to use it for this book so... yeah. See you guys in the next chapter!! *Hopefully* I will have it out before Thanksgiving but I'm not making any promises. Oh! I almost forgot, I'm going to be making the chapter shorter. More like 600-800 words instead of 800-1000 words. Bye guys! Have a good day/night!❤️
