Outside the Doors to the Throne Room
Hades' PalaceThe Underworld
-Aerith-
Right. I can do this.
No biggie.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
I am here now. There's no turning back.
I stood outside the large double doors that led to the throne room. Faint music was heard as well as muted conversations happening inside the large double doors. Any second now and those doors are going to open and I'd have to walk on the red carpet throughout the long expanse of the room. I'd also meet Hades' entire family, who also happened to be immortal and powerful gods and goddesses, for the first time.
Funny enough, my constant thought was: I must not trip or fall. Whatever gods may be listening now, please don't make me trip. Please don't make me embarrass myself.
I checked the bouquet I was clutching and made sure that the ring box was tucked safely inside the petals. I also checked my dress and fluffed the skirts a little bit. I patted my head to make sure the veil was secure. Then, I glanced back at the gems who were holding the long train of my gown and gave them a reassuring smile.
Then I looked at my hand and the ring with a huge black diamond nestled there, my engagement ring. The large black diamond was surrounded by smaller white diamonds. It was so beautiful! It shone when the light caught it and the design was so intricate that I fell in love with it at first sight.
The music got louder and suddenly the doors opened. Light blinded me for a brief second and then it dimmed and I saw that all eyes were on me.
Eep.
It was as if all the air was knocked out of my lungs. Everyone was looking at me and when I did a quick scan, the faces that I saw were all breathtaking. They did look like mortals but there was something otherworldly about them. I can't quite describe it but mix them together with a bunch of mortals and they will stand out.
