CHAPTER 26 - WEDDING NIGHT

The Throne Room
Hades' Palace

The Underworld

-Hades-

I carried my new queen and wife out of the throne room and then towards the stairs and then through the maze of rooms until we finally arrived at my bedroom. I did it with as much haste as I could so we could leave the drunk guests and have some alone time.

It is our wedding night after all...

From now on, Aerith would not be using the room that was adjoined to mine. From now on, we'll be together here in my room. I opened the door and then stepped inside and finally lowered her to the ground.

I reached for her and then quickly, desperately crushed my lips to hers.

I kissed her deeply, letting her taste how much I wanted her. My arms went towards her waist and I pulled her body towards me. She moaned against my lips before hers parted. I took this as an opportunity and let my tongue delve inside to taste her.

Gods, she tasted so sweet! Like the finest ambrosia.

Fire coursed through my veins and desire consumed me. My hands went up towards the zipper that held her dress together. This seemed to snap her out of her sensual trance. She jerked in my arms and then took a step back.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

I wanted to kiss her until she could only think of me and nothing else.

Before I could reply, she looked around and said, "This isn't my room."

"I know. But we're married."

Her eyes widened. "Hohohoho! Oh no. That's not part of the deal, mister." She then looked around the room. Those beautiful eyes widened even more when she saw all her things have been moved to this room.

"We're married," I repeated, my tone rising because of my frustration.

"I heard you say that the first time. But this isn't part of the deal."

Just like that, the trance was broken. All the hope in my heart crashed and burned.

I was so happy this day that I forgot everything. I forgot that this was all because we had a compromise. I forgot that none of it was real. Today was my wedding day but all of it was a sham.

She was a great actress, I had to give her that. When she said her vows, she looked as if they were true. But they were a lie. Everything she said was a lie when I meant every word I said. I had a wife who vowed things she didn't really mean. I had a queen who had no intention of fulfilling her promises.

My whole body became taut as I crashed back to reality.

I turned my back to her as I said the next words, "Forgive me for believing those vows that came out of your lips. I thought I heard something about giving this marriage a chance. I must've heard wrong," I said and then strode towards the bathroom to change my clothes.

I took a quick cold shower to tamp down my desire and then changed to my usual black silk pajama bottoms. I went outside and I saw Aerith's eyes widen as her gaze roamed over my bare chest. A smile almost crossed my lips when I realized my queen wasn't really made of ice.

"You can take the bed, I'll take the couch," I declared.

"No. Can I please go back to my room?" she pleaded.

"No. From our compromise, we said we'd keep up appearances. Right now, my family is down those stairs. We are a newly married couple and they expect us to be together and wouldn't want to be away from one another for a second. It would not look right if my bride is to stay on another room on her wedding night."

I didn't wait for her to reply and yanked the extra blanket and pillow from the bed and made my way towards the couch.

Look at me now: Hades, the Lord of the Underworld forced to sleep on a couch.

I sighed heavily and then tried hard to make my 6 foot 5 inch frame fit on a small couch. I tossed and turned and muttered a long string of curses.

"Hades...?"

"Yes, my queen?"

"You can take the bed and I'll just take the couch. I'll fit better there. You really don't look comfortable at all," came the hesitant reply.

"I'll be fine. I won't let my queen sleep on the couch on our wedding night."

She sighed softly and then I heard her go into the bathroom and heard the rustle of the fabric of her gown as she slid it from her body.

I almost groaned. I should've been the one to do that. I should've been the one to unzip that dress slowly until it revealed every inch of her creamy flesh. Then, I'd kiss everything I uncovered. And when her gown is removed, I'll remove the pins in her hair one by one and then run my fingers through those silken strands. Then, I'd turn her around and show her how much I want her by kissing her until she couldn't think.

I should be holding her here in my arms right now. I should've been kissing her senseless until she couldn't breathe. I should've been running my hands through her silken body and then feeling her quiver under my fingertips. I should've been holding her tight right now. She should've been under me and moaning my name as I made love to her and satisfied her every need.

But here I am: stuck on this stupid uncomfortable couch with only a pillow to wrap against my heated body.

For the longest time, I've lived alone here in the Underworld. I don't even remember the last time I've held a woman in my arms. I thought I was void of passion and desire and that all that was left for me was this bleak existence of ruling the dead.

But everything was awakened the moment I saw her.

And holding her in my arms and getting to taste those sweet lips was proving to be more trouble than I can handle.
