THE GROUND beneath Lonnie's feet shook at the rumbling roar that came from the water that had funneled into a monster of some type. Only once in her life has Lonnie felt this useless. She couldn't necessarily get away with bringing her pistols or her mom's stingers on a plane and even if she could have, Lonnie was certain they'd do nothing against whatever she was staring at.

Screams had filled the air all around Lonnie as people ran in all different directions to avoid the threat that had emerged. But Lonnie, well she was stuck in her own mind. Frozen still on the pavement as she analyzed the threat for anything that would get her the upper hand.

She stood tall in the face of danger as if it was something she'd done many times before. There was no fear in Lonnie Romanoff, not even within her eyes. And if Peter Parker didn't know any better, he'd say she looked at the threat as if she wanted to conquer it. But he didn't know better.

"Lonnie! Come on!" Peter yelled, desperately trying to get her to follow the others. But Lonnie didn't even give him an ounce of her attention, her eyes still trained on the creature like she was trapped in some kind of daze. "Lonnie!"

The darkness was all Lonnie knew. Any fragments of the light that had once ruled her world had been cast out into oblivion, trapped in a place where she could not follow. Lost forever. In a way, Lonnie Romanoff was already dead. Now she was just a hallow shell wearing the body of an innocent, happy girl, who didn't know loss or pain. All she could do these days was to try to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat.

Lonnie knew she couldn't stop this thing. Whatever it was, it was way beyond her. So now, she was met with two options. The warmth of the light was miles away, a journey that Lonnie was sick of hiking. But for once, the tender kiss of death was barely out of reach. Whether she'd ever admit it or not, it was something Lonnie longed for deep down. So when the temptress held her hand out to her, for the first time in her life, Lonnie didn't hesitate to reach out for it.

But in seconds the hand would be pulled away and any promise of bliss was dragged along with it. Lonnie was ripped from her inner thoughts and hurdled back into reality as Peter grabbed onto her arm and pulled her away with him. Lonnie's lips parted slightly, a silent cry at the loss of the end.

"Shit!" Peter yelled over the furious waves slamming onto the shore.

He quickly pulled Lonnie into his chest, wrapping his arms tightly around her as they ducked into an alleyway to avoid the punch of the water creature. The cold water nipped at Lonnie's arms and legs, soaking the back half of her body as the water from the punch splashed off the wall of the building they stood behind.

"A-are you alright?" Peter asked as he slowly let go of the girl.

"Yeah, yeah." Lonnie nodded her head. "I'm fine."

"T-that's good." Peter said with a small smile. "Go, I'm r-right behind you." Peter instructed as he ushered Lonnie forward.

Lonnie knew he was lying. It was an art Lonnie had mastered through and through. She had told many lies and witnessed many more. She knew when someone was lying to her and Peter Parker was by far one of the worst liars she'd ever witnessed in her entire life. Lonnie didn't know why he was lying or what he could possibly be lying about, but she also had no energy to question him. So instead she simply nodded her head and ran down the alley, not bothering to look back.

The second Lonnie had made it out of the alley however, another wave of water poured down on her. Though this time the water carried pricks along with it as the monster threw it's fist into another building. A small shriek flew past Lonnie's lips as she avoided the debris. But her efforts to run away were suddenly shot down as her foot slipped on the water below her, causing her to drop to the ground.

The second she hit the ground, Lonnie went to jump to her feet again. But with one step she'd find herself crashing back to the ground with a cry of pain. A sharp pain shot up her ankle causing her to wince. She felt droplets of water fall down onto her and when she looked up Lonnie was met with the water monster's hand in the air above her.

A small sigh ran past Lonnie's lips as she slumped down in the pavement in defeat. All she could do now was close her eyes and await for the strike that would slam her into oblivion. To a place where the nightmares would no longer haunt her, where there was no sadness or pain, she'd go to a place where she'd finally be with her family again. But once again, fate deemed death too good for Lonnie Romanoff.

"Come on, kid." Lonnie opened her eyes to be met with what she guessed to be a man wearing a velvet cape and what appeared to be a giant fish bowl on his head. His hands were extended up at the monster above her, a green mist radiating from his hands that appeared to stop the water from ever reaching the ground. Lonnie stared at the mystery hero in confusion, she'd never seen any reports on this guy and Tony had many reports on many solo heroes. "Run."

Lonnie quickly scrambled up from the ground, doing her best to ignore the pain shooting through her ankle as she broke into a run. She didn't necessarily know where she was running to but all of that seemed to be answered her by the grace that is Michelle Jones.

"Lonnie?! Oh there you are!" MJ called out to her newfound friend as she raced towards her. "Geez, you had me worried."

"I'm okay." Lonnie reassured with a small smile.

"Come on, a group of us found shelter where we can wait this out." MJ said as she pulled Lonnie along with her. "Did you see that flying guy?"
