ALL FOR US
"REMEMBRANCE"PEOPLE ALWAYS say that your childhood years are the best ones of your life. But what about the children who aren't granted the privilege of a childhood? What about the children who are forced to grow up at a young age. Six year old Lonnie Talari was one of those children. She was never granted a moment of childhood. When she was three she witnessed her parent's murder and not even a year later she would become the only survivor of a bomb blast that decimated her entire town. It was that same day S.H.I.E.L.D. found her.
Lonnie didn't remember much of the aftermath of the explosion other than waking up on board some floating metal ship she would learn to be called the Helicarrier. She would remain in an infirmary for nearly a year before Nick Fury deemed her fit to begin training. At the time, Lonnie had no home, no family. The orphanage back at her home town did little to give her comfort and now looking back on it her biggest regret was that those children would never find a feeling of home before their firey demise.
Training would become all Lonnie knew until the day after she turned six. Her life since being within the graps of S.H.I.E.L.D. consisted of the same routine. Daily check up, training, lunch, more training, dinner, shower, school work, and finally sleep. She didn't know anything different, after all, any memory of what life was before her parent's murder was fogged over in a thick haze.
But despite training being all Lonnie knew, she was beginning to grow tired of it. It was both physically and emotionally challenging and gave her little time to actually breathe. She had little time to rest her heavy bones before the next round. She was just a kid. A kid who didn't know anything else, but one that wanted something else.
But maybe she was just being selfish. She had a roof over her head and food to eat. The people around the Helicarrier cared for her, some even taking time out of their day to play games with her. She knew there are kids that didn't even know when they'd find warmth in the cold of the night, or when they'd be presented with another meal. She knew there are children in the stuck within tightening grasp of older men and women they've never even met before, used everyday as nothing but a plaything for the sick and twisted. She knew there are children that are suffering under the cruel hands of war and corrupt governments. So maybe she couldn't complain after all. Maybe she was selfish for wanting more.
Lonnie didn't really know where she was running to. Most of the lights on the Hellecarrier had gone out with the explosion, the emergency ones being her only source of light as she sprinted down the hallway. At first she had been following the sound of a huge roar but as those ended she had picked up something else, what she believed to be the sounds of two people fighting.
Lonnie was good with weapons, you give her any kind and she could list off at least twelve ways to kill or severely injure someone with it. Nick Fury had picked up on her skill with weapons early and trained her in just about ever style and tactic he knows. Hell he even moved on to training her with everyday objects such as pencils, pens, scissors, keys, string, etc.
As Lonnie grew closer to the sounds she noticed two figures ahead of her. One a female and the other a male. They both wore black, the woman wearing a full body suit and the man wearing a vest and cargo pants. Lonnie could make out the bright red hair of the woman even with the dark shadow that cast over the two. Lonnie pushed herself to run faster as she made her way towards the figures. She wasn't really sure which one was supposed to be on her side but seeing as the man was holding a knife to the girl's neck, Lonnie took a wild shot and decided to help the girl out.
Lonnie quickly pulled out her dagger and without much thought into her aim threw the blade and sent it spiraling towards the two. She watched with a small smirk as her dagger clashed into the man's knife and knocked it from his hand. As if they had planned it, at the same time both the man and the woman whipped their heads around to Lonnie who by now was barely two feet away from them. Lonnie never broke speed as approached the man. She had placed her hand on his shoulder and hoisted herself up onto his shoulders. Lonnie bawled the man's shirt in her fists and pulled it tightly back towards her.
The woman watched Lonnie in utter confusion as she choked the man with his own shirt. Natasha has never seen this kid around and for a moment questioned if she had rung her bell a little too hard. But the undeniable S.H.I.E.L.D. logo stuck out on the little girl's shoulder like a sore thumb. She couldn't be older than six
"Punch him." Lonnie said as the man clawed at her to try and tug her off him. A rather large hand finally grasped onto Lonnie and the man went to throw her small figure off him but was instead knocked out by a hard punch to the face. Lonnie couldn't stop the smile from forming on her face as Natasha held her up from the ground, sparing the small blonde child the harsh impact the man had just faced. "That was so cool."
Natasha only stared at the kid confused as she set her down on the ground. "Right."
"I mean did you see my whole knock the knife away trick?" Lonnie asked, her smirk only growing as she stared up at the now clear face of the woman. "You know it was kind of a fifty fifty shot. I didn't really think I was gonna..."
"Who are you?"
"Me?" Lonnie asked, causing Natasha to nod her head. "Oh, I'm Lonnie. But everyone around here calls me Agent Talari."
"Agent?" Natasha questioned, her eyebrow furrowing together. "But you're just a kid."
Lonnie hated it when people referred to her as a kid. It made her feel weaker compared to the other agents but for most of them it wasn't the case. She may have the body of a child, but her skill in fighting was beyond her years. "I'm not so young." Lonnie stated as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Might I ask your name? Or should I just keep referring to you as the girl in my head?"
"Natasha."
"Natasha." Lonnie repeated with a slight nod. "Hmm." She hummed. "That's too long. I'm going to call you Nat."
