Chapter 31

"Suzy, will you give Mr. Vos a call, please? He didn't come and the man was Mr. Vons, not Mr. Vos."

"Sorry Miss. Coldwell."

"It is fine Suzy, he did pronounce it strangely."

She grabs her phone and makes the call, I walk into my office nearby and put my thing down. I go through some papers before I go down to the labs and see what is going on. If anything I can jump in and help out. When I get down there I help with what I can and when my mom walks in she looks at us.

"Why don't you all go home for the day? There are only five of you here so there is no point."

They grab their things after cleaning up and leave. I turn to look at my mom, something is bugging her. She wouldn't have had the guards follow me to my office for nothing. She even sent the people I am in charge of home, they still could have worked on their projects despite there only being five people out of the team of fifteen.

"What's up?"

"The League wants something but won't say."

"It has something to do with the labs."

She frowns a little as she looks at me, "yeah."

"What are you thinking about?"

"Maybe it's time for The Lady to come back."

"How are you going to do that and be Mrs. Coldwell? Mrs. Coldwell will have to die or suspicion will arise if The Lady comes back and you are too busy to do everything."

"I am pretty sure I can find a way to be both."

We end up going back up and getting lunch before going into a meeting with the real Mr. Vos. We tell him the progress we have made with his plans and he seems to be pretty happy about it. When he goes, I continue with the day until I am finally free. I walk out with the Shadow members not far behind me.

They stay behind as I drive away to my apartment. When I get there I find the place a slight mess and start cleaning it up. Tilly comes in and looks at me before she helps me finish cleaning up. I guess it is safe to say that they tried to see what they could get from here. After that, we sit down and wait for dinner to get done.

"Have an interesting morning?"

She rubs the back of her neck, "whatever league came here wanted something... did they get anything?"

"No, if they came for what I think they did, they would have to take me."

She nods as she takes a sip of her drink and I pull dinner out of the oven. As we eat I get a message from The Shadows. I frown when I read it. Tilly gets the same message and has the same reaction. I quickly put leftovers away before I change and go out. I look at the busy street down below and wait. I turn around and smile at Kyrell.

"Why hello Dad. Didn't tell Mom about what happened did you?"

He stares at me and I know he is frowning beneath the mask, "let's keep it that way shall we."

"Keep what that way?"

I turn and see my mom, "so The Lady is coming back?"

She moves her mask a little, "maybe. So what was this about?"

"It seems that something we have all agreed about is not easy to get," he looks at my mom. "Why not get the best to retrieve it?"

"Still haven't obtained the heart totem, tsk tsk tsk."

"Shadow."

I turn to see Tilly jumping from the rooftops doing what she needs to do. It is strange to not be doing this with her. My parents explain everything to me and we go off on our way. We get there and I get in before my parents can. I quickly switch out the totem with a fake and get out of there. My parents look at me before my dad takes it and goes off. My mom and I go the same way, the opposite direction my dad is going.
