We get off the plane and go out to find a car waiting for us. I am happy we left when we did. We got here at noon and there was a storm that would have made us land somewhere else. We get to my parents' house and go in. I smile when Damen comes over and gives me a hug. Normally he doesn't beat mom but sometimes he does.
"I'm happy you made it," he let me go, giving Jason a hug, "you two are looking happy."
I smile at him, "I brought cookies."
Damen grabs the tin as Aillard comes in, he looks at the tin, "poison them?"
I glare at Aillard, "maybe just yours."
My mom walks in and slaps Aillard's shoulder, "will you stop it. Leyla, I was worried you wouldn't make it when I heard about the storm."
She wraps her arms around me and I smile at her, "nothing could stop me."
She holds me at arm's length before grabbing my hand, "what a beautiful ring..." she looks over at Jason, "too bad it is only a promise ring."
Jason looks at his shoes, "don't want to rush things."
"You two are soul mates, there is no rushing things."
We walk into the living room and I smile at Kelaya, "how are you two doing?"
She gets up and comes over, giving me a hug, "we are fine."
I pull back and look at her with a small smile, "so? What is their name?"
She just smiles back at me, "I can't get Damen to agree on one."
Damen pops up behind her, "I said the last one didn't sound bad."
I smirk, "he means he likes it so just go with it... what is it anyway?"
"Her name will be Carter Leia Kline if we go with the last one."
I smile, "that is cute," I look around, "where is Amila?"
Aillard sits down on the couch, "last-minute mission."
I nod my head before we are all ushered into the dining room by my mom. We laugh as we talk, enjoying being together. For the most part. Aillard is still annoying. When we are done Jason and I go to the door, getting our coats so we can leave. I put my scarf on as I wait for Damen and Jason to finish talking. I was so worried that they wouldn't get along because of everything but I guess I don't have to worry about it anymore.
My dad gives me one last hug before holding the door open for Jason and me, "be careful you two... we would like to end this year without injuries and start one the same way."
I look back at them, "don't worry, I will keep Jason out of trouble."
"Oh no, we were mainly talking to Jason... you are a magnet for trouble," my mom adds with a smile before they go inside.
Jason puts his arm over my shoulders, "ready to go to Aeston?"
"Always."
As we walk to the car I watch someone walking down the street. We get to the car and Jason opens the door for me. I look at the person, stopping when I see a flash of something familiar. I don't know what it is but the nagging feeling of it being familiar tells me it is so I will go with it. They pull their hood over their head and start walking away after looking at me.
"Leyla?"
"Do you see them?"
"Yes... better get in before we can't."
I get in and Jason shuts the door, walking to the other side and getting in. We go back to the airport and get on the jet, making our way to Aeston. By the time we get there, it is dark. We didn't say a word on the jet. We didn't have to, we understood the looks we were giving each other. I do enjoy communicating with someone without speaking, you don't have to worry about who will hear you.
