We have been here for a week. It has been a nice break from everything. So far the new year is good. Every now and then I will have a nightmare but they aren't as bad as they were before. It seems like this is what I needed, a break from everything and a chance to just be with Jason and not worry about anything. I walk out of the room and go into the kitchen.
"So... what is the plan for today?"
"Go out, do something that we want to do."
He slides me a plate and I look down at the crepe, "when did you learn how I like my crepes?"
"Tilly wanted to make you some but realized she didn't have everything."
I take a bite and smile. When we finish our breakfast we go out, going to a park to walk around. We end up going to a bookstore around lunch before Jason takes me somewhere. It was mostly a do whatever day but it was nice. Not having anything that you have to do or people really waiting for you to do something.
"So... where are we going?"
Jason turns the corner, a small smile on his face, "somewhere beautiful."
I look at him before looking out the window again, "somewhere you enjoyed?"
"Yes."
We get out of the car after he parks and we sit on the hood, watching the sunset over the city. I don't know what I had in mind when he told me we were going somewhere beautiful but it wasn't this. Especially since it is getting dark. I look over at Jason to find him looking at me. A small smile on his face.
"What are you looking at?"
"Something even more beautiful than the sunset."
I feel my cheeks get warm and look away from him, "funny."
He puts my face in his hands and moves my head so I am looking at him, "you are cute when you get flustered."
He kisses me, only pulling away to tell me that he loves me. When he stops kissing my lips he kisses me all over my face I laugh and he pulls away with a huge smile on his face. He tucks a strand of hair behind my ear and rubs his thumb over my cheek.
"I love your laugh... it is cute."
I move and get off the hood, "we should go back... it is getting late."
Jason comes over and opens the door for me, "after you, beautiful."
I get in the car and we make our way back to the house. I get in the shower and walk out to the living room to find Jason looking at the file. I lean against the wall as I watch him. When he looks up at me, he closes the file and puts it on the table. The look on his face tells me that he has something he wants to tell me.
"Leyla... I have something to tell you."
I walk over to him and sit down looking at the file, "I thought Zach said you burned all the information they had on you."
He grabs the file and opens it, "I couldn't... I thought I would keep this and see what they had in it."
"And?"
Jason looks at me, "I was the one who told The Shadows what Te Deum was doing... I was the one who helped you to the cot and told you I would get you out of there."
"And?"
He turns the page, "they have my mom's last known address... I haven't seen her since I told The Shadows where to find you. She left the League that day and vanished without a trace."
I look at the address, "are we going to go there and see if she is there?"
He looks at me, "I have to see her... so much has happened."
