Carter came rushing into the bedroom as fast as his tiny feet would carry him. With tears running down his cheeks he went straight over to Taylor and shook her shoulder until she awoke.

"Mommy? Wake up!"

The urgency in the little boy's voice made Taylor's eyes shoot open. She sat up and brushed her hand along his cheek. "Carter? What happened buddy?" She asked him and held out her arms. The anxiety coursed through her. Her heart was pounding in her chest.

He put his head on her chest and sniffled. "Had a bad dream." He mumbled sadly.

"Oh." Taylor cooed and held him a little tighter. "That's alright. Everyone has bad dreams now and then. It's just important to remember that that's all they are; just really bad dreams. Look," she pointed to your sleeping figure curled up beside her. "Your mom is here, I'm here. No one and nothing bad is gonna happen to you when we're with you."

He nodded and brought his knuckle up to rub at his eyes. He was tired. It was clear to see. But it was also obvious that he wasn't letting go. Taylor's wise and comforting words might calm his wild imagination and worried thoughts but he still doesn't wanna have to leave her side.

"Wanna sleep with us tonight?"

He gasped excitedly. "Yeah!"

Taylor smiled and kissed his forehead, brushing her fingers through his hair. "Okay but you gotta be quiet. Mommy is still sleeping. We don't wanna wake her."

He nodded and went to sandwich himself between you and Taylor. However, he remembered one very important thing. "My bear!"

He looked at Taylor, silently pleading with her to get his bear. "I'll go get it for you. Stay here."

She left the room and went across the hall to his room. Turning on his light, she noticed the blankets on his bed were all messy. He was obviously quick to run to your shared room. Whatever he dreamt of must've really frightened him.

She grabbed his bear on his bed as well as his favorite blanket. It was soft and blue, which so happened to be his favorite color. He always slept like a baby when he had it with him. It was still his comfort item.

She tiptoed back into the bedroom but it was clear that she didn't need to when she heard your voice. The mattress dipped when she climbed back into bed, capturing your attention, as well as Carter's.

"You're awake?" She frowned.

"Yeah. He crawled into my arms."

She nodded, kissing Carter's forehead once again. She noticed his eyes had slipped shut and his mouth was agape just a tiny bit. "He said he had a bad dream. Woke me up. He was crying and he didn't wanna go back to bed."

She brushed her fingers along your arm. Her words were a soft whisper. You were exhuasted. "I love you. You're incredible with him." You smiled tiredly. "Goodnight, Carter. Sleep tight and have sweet dreams." You whispered and kissed his head before yawning and closing your eyes.

Taylor sighed contently and laid her head back on her pillow. She looked at you both sleeping soundly. Her heart felt so overwhelmed with love for you both.

"I love you both so much. Sweet dreams, my babies." She said and closed her eyes, falling asleep quickly and with a small smile on her face.
