« I think I know where we can find her » I said totally depressed
I told them all of my thoughts. I told them all about my fear. While telling I saw their faces decompose. At the end of my story they were as depressed as me.
« So this is how it ends » Kyle said « We lost »
« Don’t say that ! » I answered
« That’s just the truth. What do you want us to do now ? We don’t have any way to arrive to the Camp before her ! »
« We’ll find one ! » I said
I tried to approach him but my legs refused to work any longer. I fell on my knees. I’ve used magic too much and I was paying the price.
« See ! » Kyle said « You’re not even able to walk anymore »
« Shut your mouth Kyle » Leah answered before I could say a word
She looked at me.
« I’ll heal you. » she said « And after that we’ll send an Iris-mail to Chiron. We have to warn him. And maybe he could find a way for us to go to the Camp »
She approached me and made me seat down. She started to sing something. It was beautiful but I didn’t understand the meaning of it. I only knew that it was clearly Ancient Greek. I was too curious not to ask what she was saying.
« What are you saying ? » I asked
She stopped singing.
« It’s a hymn to my father. It’s in Ancient Greek that’s why you don’t understand it » Leah answered « It helps me healing people fast and without using Ambrosia or any medical tools. Now let me finish »
She started to sing again. Every word she said I felt better. When she stopped singing again I felt incredibly better.
« Thank you » I said « But what about your own injuries ? »
« I can’t heal myself using the hymn » she answered « But I have some ambrosia don’t worry »
She walked away to take care of Kyle and left me alone with my thoughts.
I was still depressed. I couldn’t help but think about how stupid I was. Thinking we could defeat a so powerful sorceress like that was really stupid. It would have been way too easy. Maybe I was not worthy of Hecate’s trust. Maybe I was not worthy of my friends trust. Maybe I was just a looser who didn’t deserve to be on this quest.
I heard Leah saying Kyle to find a place where we can send an Iris-mail and coming closer.
« Stop morping » she said « This is not your fault. She fooled us all on this one »
« I should have realized it before » I answered
« How ? » she answered « Chiron is the wisest person I know and even him didn’t see it coming »
« I don’t know. I just feel responsible »
« But you’re not ! Now come on we still have work to do. We have an entire Camp to save ! »
Kyle was coming back when we stood up. She was right. I couldn’t stay in this state. Thats was what Lamia wanted and I couldn’t let her win another time. We still had work to do. We still had a fight to be fought. And this time we wouldn’t lose. This time we would win.
« I found a car wash station » Kyle said « This could be the perfect place to send an Iris-mail »
« Is it near ? Because the sun will rise soon » Leah asked
« Fives minutes walk »
« Let’s go now then. There shouldn’t be too many mortals »
We walked in silence to the car wash station. Once arrived we paid before taking one of the pipes and setting it to "fogger". Leah threw a gold drachma in the rainbow.
« Chiron. Camp Half-blood » she said
Nothing happened for the first few seconds but then the rainbow started to shake and an image appeared. It was Chiron. He was talking with Lou Ellen in the Big House. She was the first to notice our presence.
« Chiron you should turn around » she said « I think someone is trying to join you »
Chiron turned around and looked at us.
« I’m glad to see you alive » he said
« I’m glad to be alive » I answered
He laughed.
« Why are you joining me ? » he said with a smile
« We have some bad news » Leah answered
We told him about our meeting with the harpies and the giant snake. We told him about our defeat in Lamia’s lair. We told him about Lamia’s plan to attack the Camp. In fact we told him everything that happened to us.
« Lou could you make everyone aware please ? We must prepare to fight » he said after listening to us
Lou stepped out of our line of sight without saying a single word.
« Why does she want to attack the Camp ? » i asked « I don’t understand »
« This might be a part of her plan » he answered « She’s hoping that the Gods will react and help us. It would create chaos and Giants are easier to reborn in time of chaos »
« We definitely have to stop her » I said
« But we don’t know how to return to the Camp ! » Kyle said
« I’ll send you our fastest pegasus » Chiron answered « With a little luck you’ll arrive on time »
« We’ll arrive on time » I said « No matter what it takes »
« I have to go now. We must hold an emergency council of war. Good luck » Chiron said while our fogger was stopping
Our friends were aware of the threat and the Camp was preparing for war. We had a way to go to the Camp. We were going to win this time.
