Nightlight

Chapter 9

Morning is beaten to start everyday. But not this time for me, of course.

"Hi guys. I'm Aaron Gonzales. Nice to meet you all." Aaron introduced himself.

Everyone in my class made themselves shocked knowing that Aaron, a member of nightlight, will be our classmate. Aaron is really a man with words. Sinabi niya sakin kahapon na he'll be my classmate and kakausapin niya si Miss Ellen.

Did he really talked to miss Ellen regarding to that incident?

"Aaron, there's a vacant seat here." sabi nung kaklase ko.

"What?! Are you blind?! Upuan ko to!" sigaw nung katabi niya.

"You can sit behind Miss Torres." sabi ni Miss Ellen.

"Who's Torres?" tanong ni Aaron.

"Oh! Blake Torres."

Tinuro ako ni Miss Ellen then Aaron suddenly grin. His usual grin.

"Thank you Miss." nakangiting sabi ni Aaron saka umupo sa likuran ko.

I didn't took a glance to him. I know how awkward the atmosphere here. Aaron is behind me. The keyboardist is behind me. A Member of Nightlight is behind me. Sinong hindi maiilang neto?

"Hi Blake." bulong ni Aaron.

Nagsulat ako sa papel saka ibinigay kay Aaron sa likod at muling ibinaling ang atensyon kay Miss Ellen.

"Pretend we're not close. I'm gonna be in danger if you keep calling me."

That's what I wrote to him. Later on, iniabot sakin ni Aaron ang papel kaya binuksan ko ito.

"I don't care. You're the only friend I have here." sabi niya.

I wrote down again.

"You can approach Ciana and Alina rather than me. They're your friends too."

"They're not my friend. I'm a total stranger in the Private Building."

Natigilan ako sa nasaba. Who's Aaron to them ba? I thought they were a group of people who shared the same goal and interests. Then why did Aaron think of this?

Natapos ang klase na wala akong naintindihan. My mind was occupied with Aaron's response earlier. I sigh saka nagnirest ang ulo sa mesa and as usual, pumunta sakin si Alina and Ciana.

"Tara Blake, kain tayo sa Cafeteria." aya ni Alina.

"You can go without me. Di pa ako gutom." sabi ko habang di sila hinaharap.

"You okay Blake?" tanong ni Ciana.

"Yes I'm fine. Just a little tired maybe." sagot ko.

"Ahm... Okay. Just text me kung may ipapabili ka." sabi ni Alina saka sila umalis ni Ciana.

I sigh again. I don't feel that I'm in my usual self. Maybe because of what happened yesterday. Nakakawalang gana ngayong araw. Even though Aaron made me happy because he kept his words, but still I wanted to have my peace.

"Are you really okay?" tanong ni Andy.

"Yeah." Sabi ko.

Lumabas ako sa classroom at pumunta sa rooftop para magpahangin. Unwinding is the best feeling for me today though. Umupo ako sa gilid ng pinto. It's a cloudy day. Malamig din ang simoy ng hangin by which I need the most.

Sa di kalayuan, natatanaw ko dito ang Private Building. Ano kaya ang ginagawa nila ngayon? After what happened, I never received a call or text. Especially Zopy. Di ko alam kung may pake ba talaga sila sakin o wala. Well, I'm an outsider tho. I'm also not that special to treat me they way the people treated them.
