Chapter 10: The ritual

The large man that was previously asking me where my friends were must've not known they were already caught. Or did he? It would make plenty of sense if he was trying to throw me off.

"You're here!" Another person had their hands up in the air watching as the fire rose into the air, these people were crazy I could see it in my friends...distorted faces.
The other approached me from the underbrush like this spot was a den of wolves, I remembered my face being surprised and so very disturbed.
"What..is this.." I said looking up at my friends who were hanging upside down but alive, they all looked at me. Tsuki was crying, there was no one to save us at this moment...no one to call...
"It's the ritual! All for you! " The other said.
I felt my eyes fill with tears, they were the closest to me and I didn't know what I would do if I lost them.

"Please... don't do what I think you are going to do.." I murmured dropping the paper and it quickly blew away in the wind, I walked closer to the fire and they watched me, what did they want me to do? Did they want me to kill them myself? 
"We need you, we need them too our lives are at stake." One of them said we both know that when a stranger that already hurt you before, separated you from your friends, and then lured you here on a goose chase pleads you to kill your family you wouldn't do it.

They were telling me how valuable I was how much I would be loved if I did this favor, who were they? I was never told their names they were just a bunch of fat-bellied and big-boned people begging me to kill my friends for them with a knife.
I looked at them as one of them told me to poke at the neck with the knife but I didn't move, why couldn't they do it themselves?
I wasn't going to kill my friends, I could see the uneasy looks on their faces.

"What do you want from me..." I said shivering before them, my pupils were small and my body was tense with fear and dismay.
"We need this by next month it takes weeks for us to count the money am cash it in. There is nothing else we can do here." they were pleading to me, some had tears in their eyes as I did We were syncing together in feeling. My friends looked at me in disbelief, they actually believed I would kill them. I had one last question to ask.

"What did you do to Sora?"
Everything went quiet as I said that, it's like they didn't know who Sora was and where she went. Maybe they didn't she ditched us all instead of staying with us.
It was sad to think that Sora could have taken the car and left but, on the other hand, Tsuki has the keys so where is she?
I walked up to Amber and Tsuki, my face heavy with guilt I turned around to them and tried to do one last plea.
"Is there anything I can do? Anyone else I could kill for you that isn't them. Please..." Tears were rolling down my face, I have never been so emotional I just didn't want to lose Tsukis teddy bear nature and Amber's sassiness.

The tallest male looked at me, they all had their masks on once more but I could tell who was who by voice and body figure.
"We have a boss who wants money from us, we need 82,250 by the end of this month. If you want to live you and your friends need to get that for us got it?" They ordered.
I was happy that my friends were going to live but now we were in deep trouble. we all jumped at the sound of groaning, a female came around with her hands behind her head.
It was Sora, I thought she died. She was surprised to see me hugging her, she hesitated to hug back before she looked upon the ritual, they were gone and Amber and Tsuki were free.

It was weird how they moved around so silently, like snakes.
"Wh-" Sora looked at us all "What happened?" Sora stammered as I let go.
"Too much to explain, we need to do what these guys want us to do or we are dead..." I said dropping the knife on the ground.
"What are we doing?" She asked.
"We need to raise 82,250 by next month," I said quickly as she looked at me with a raised eyebrow, she didn't believe me.

"Please, I want you to live ya know-" I said as Tsuki and Amber both looked at her in silence, they had sweat dripping down their brows anything but calm on their faces. She was indefinitely bewildered about what I was saying to her but of course, it was true.
"We need to do this together, we need our lives, and we need each other," Tsuki said taking everyone in for a hug, it was much needed.
