We all needed to go home and clear our minds before we left, we all could have died in one night. I was lucky enough to have enough emotional connection to my friends to not want to kill them so rashly.
***"So, this did end up being an escape room?" Sora said with a grin slowly creeping across her face, no one laughed but it was a good try I guess.
"We should go back to the cabin..." Amber said softly, no sassiness no growl just a tired soft voice yelling out for sleep after a traumatizing event.
"Yeah.." Tsuki said grabbing my hand and squeezing it tightly, it was nice to feel his warmth again. We started to move back to the cabin, I've walked enough tonight but I guess I had to walk a few more hours. Once we got back we didn't bother to do anything with the window we all went to our beds with no good nights and no midnight jokes, at least Sora knew this wasn't the night for that. It was nearing the end of August, September was around the corner. I went to sleep even though the thought of us having to make 82,250 dollars by the end of this month was buzzing around my head. I didn't know what I was going to get into to get this money, with that much we could have kept a house in the woods instead of renting it. With all of this in mind, I still fell into a deep sleep.
My eyes opened again, the position I was in was unlike I would ever sleep before and the surroundings were wavy almost as if I had woken up into a dream-like state.
I laid there with tired eyes I heard someone get up from their bed, I was turned away from everyone and we were all sleeping in one room.
Every time I closed my eyes I thought about those masks, they looked so real like they were made out of actual pigskin and the fire I stood in front of for at least 20 minutes made me feel like I was on fire with an immediate headache, I always hated the cold but right about now I wouldn't mind sitting out on the chilly ground with this sudden heat flash.I took my cover off of me and sat up, the surroundings were dark as the electricity was still cut so I wasn't the only one feeling like a hot potato. The person who has just got up was Tsuki who was just leaning up against the window, I wondered if he was okay after all of that as I have never seen him truly bawl until this night.
He was watching something, his eyes were devoid of emotion which was very irregular.I found myself beside him but he didn't try to bring me closer to him. I was afraid of his mental state.
I looked in the direction he faced, it was one of them again at the breaker box. I was shocked not that they were here again but how did they know that we were here? We could have easily left right after this or something.
The lights flicked back on and the refrigerator started to make its subtle hum again, we both took a second to look at it but when we looked back at the window a note was there."It's August the 21st. :) " It read.
I swore it was impossible how quietly these men moved, they had to be at least 180-200 pounds to the look of their beer bellies, I had so many questions for these men and their origins but with the little information they told me already, I doubt they would tell me anything else.Sora covered her eyes in her sleep as the lights in the room came on, I went over to the switch to turn it off again before closing the door for now. I walked back to Tsuki who was now rubbing his eyes before he took a look at me, but it didn't seem pleasant what he could be thinking about.
He was significantly taller than I was and even stronger than I was but he seemed broken by the experience, there were no cuts or bruises on him just little marks from the ropes wrapped around his arms tightly when he hung belly first to the fire for who knows how long."Tsuki...? Are you okay..?" I said in a whisper to not wake up Amber knowing if I did she awoke she'd throw hands."No...I'm not.." He answered, his voice cracked as he said those words. Was he afraid of me? Did he think I would kill him?"What have you gotten us into..? Why did you do this to us?" He went on pushing me away as I tried to get closer, I started to shudder out of stress."T-this wasn't my fault!" I said in a hushed tone as he glared at me. As he opened his mouth for another word I jolted up from my bed. It was all a dream. I looked over at Tsuki and he was fast asleep in bed, the lights were still out but a note was still on the window, I got up to look at it and it said the same thing it did in my dream. It was taped onto the outside so I couldn't grab it but I starred at it for a while as the ink started to dribble down like tears, I was only up for one night and I was already seeing things? I didn't notice the pitter-patter of the rain till a bit later. I gripped my chest a bit a sighed in relief. I turned away from the window and looked over at Tsuki before sitting on his bed, I didn't do anything there I just sat there since it was closer than my bed was. He was holding his pillow tightly in his arms and just laying on the mattress without any head support, unlike me who couldn't go a second without it.
I shook him a little and he whined and waved his arm up in the air to shoo me away, I smirked a bit while watching him doing so and shook him again but he didn't want to wake up. I ended up falling asleep beside him, mostly on him. I was going to regret this in the morning.
