Steve had woken up early that morning, long before his alarm. He had slept in the spare bedroom that night, letting Bucky have his bed. He hoped he was okay.
He decided to cook himself and Bucky breakfast, in hopes that Bucky would finally eat a full meal instead of refusing most. He knew his cooking would be better than the food Bucky was forced to eat. Steve got out of bed and walked to the kitchen, turning the stove on and heating up a pan. He began to cook eggs and toast in silence, while he waited for Bucky to wake up.

It wasn't long before he eventually did. Steve's heart lifted when he saw Bucky walking around his apartment, seemingly perfectly fine.

Bucky looked around the room, he wondered if something had happened between him and Steve. Something he couldn't remember. He hated it. He looked at Steve who was dressed in a tight, white t-shirt and his boxers, Bucky couldn't help but stare.
"Hungry?" Steve asked, breaking Bucky from his trance. Bucky looked at the food cooking and nodded, food wasn't exactly what he wanted. But he didn't know what it was he did. "Take a seat." Steve smiled, gesturing to the small dining table in the corner of the room. Bucky nodded and sat down, admiring the drawings on the wall.
"Did..what happened last night?" He asked quietly, turning his attention to Steve who placed a plate in front of him, along with a knife and fork. Steve sat down opposite and began to eat.
"Well..we went to the party. After a while, you'd drank..a lot. I hadn't drank that much, but I went to the bathroom." Steve began, sighing. "Then I came back and you were gone. I got Tony and when we eventually found you, you were passed out. I was hoping you could tell me what happened." Bucky shook his head.
"I don't quite remember.." He mumbled, taking a bite. "I remember getting a drink at the bar..the rest is..a blur." Steve chuckled slightly.
"Oh yeah? How's your hangover this morning?" Steve smirked. Bucky's stomach fluttered.
"Pretty bad." He said, chuckling a little.
"I'll get you some painkillers." Steve said as he got up from the table. He opened a cupboard and pulled out a bottle. He got out a glass and filled it with water, giving them both to Bucky. "Take two." He instructed. Bucky opened the bottle and put two in his mouth, swallowing them down with the water. It wasn't exactly what he wanted. But it was a step in the right direction.

..........

Steve took Bucky to work with him that morning. When they arrived, he immediately got Bucky checked out like Tony had said the night before.
He was told that Bucky was fine, but Peggy seemed to be a little off when telling him. Steve chose to ignore it and asked her out on another date later in the week. She said yes.

Steve walked into Bucky's room after his conversation with Peggy and sat down. He leaned back in the chair and looked at Bucky.
"You sleep okay last night?" He asked, crossing his arms across his chest.
"Fine." Bucky said, turning his head to look at Steve. "I've been meaning to ask.."
"Go ahead." Steve said. Bucky nodded.
"When I..when I leave here.." He started, sitting up. "Where do I go? Do I still get to..see you?" Steve scratched the back of his neck.
"Well..normally they put you in some sort of housing until you get a job and can buy your own place." He told him, watching as Bucky frowned. "But if that isn't what you want..I could probably get Tony to arrange something else for you-"
"Could I stay with you?" Bucky said quickly, not having thought of what he was saying before he did.
"I don't see why not." Steve smiled. Bucky looked at him and shared the same smile, chuckling slightly.
"Thanks, Steve. I appreciate it."

..........

The sun shone brightly through the blinds, into Bucky's room. Well. Steve's guest room. He'd been working on it for a few days now, he wanted to make sure it was perfect for his new roommate. Of course, Bucky had no idea he was leaving yet. Steve wanted it to be a surprise.
