She blinked her eyes, then glanced at her surroundings—squinting. Napailing siya. That did not do anything. Pola heaved a sigh, then shrugged her shoulders.
Pola never considered herself smart—or at least that was what her parents had indelibly etched in her mind. Despite her best efforts, she was never good enough for them; they were never contented and never proud of her achievements.
"That's wrong," uttered a baritone voice behind Pola.
His face was just too close she had to lean backwards to be able to recognize him. And when she did, her breath whooshed out of her lungs she almost choked herself to death.
Ano'ng ginagawa ng nag-iisang Phillip Dev Grecco rito? Pola's eyes blinked rapidly.
Pola hastily scooted to the other of the table, leaving at least two feet distance between her and Phillip.
Oblivious to her reaction, Phillip casually occupied the seat that she had just vacated. He was murmuring as he read what Pola had written. His expression had always been stern and gruff, she noticed, giving off an intimidating vibe. Pola's right hand flew to her chest and was about to check if there were prying eyes watching them, when she heard another familiar voice across the cafe.
"Don't worry, we're not going to tell your anyone that you almost kissed Phillip."
Pola's eyes widened even more. Si Flame! Flame Sev Grecco's lips curled into a playful grin which, even from afar, revealed deep dimples she never knew he had.
"'Can't decide what to buy.
"Why don't you just call one of your girls, huh, Seth? O nagsawa ka na sa kanila?"
