A Day at the Park

5 Days in the House

"Killua, " Gon said bursting into his room. "Leorio said we could go to the park! Come on, let's go!" Killua stood up and walked towards Gon. "What park, " he asked. "Are they going to drive us?" Gon tilted his head. "You mean you didn't see it, " he asked. "There's a park right down the street. We can walk." Killua smiled. "Okay, " he said. "Let's go."

The boys ran past Kurapika in the kitchen and out the front door. They heard Kurapika call their names but the door had already shut behind them before they could respond. They ran down the street past other houses and barking dogs. Cars raced past them with confused kids and worried parents staring at them run. Eventually, they arrived at the park.

The park had your standard set up. A few slides sprinkled around, three ways to get to the slides. A merry-go-round and something to climb. Baseball fields surrounding the park. A trail leading into a surrounding forest as well. There was also a swing-set. On the swing-set, a boy was already sitting. A familiar boy. "Zushi, " Gon called waving.

The boy looked up from the swing and smiled. He jumped off the swing and ran up to them "Gon, Killua, " he said. "Long time no see! How have you been?" Gon laughed. "We've been great, " he said. "Right now we're taking a break from being Hunters. We'll be living here for a bit."

Zushi grinned. "That's so cool, " he exclaimed. "I live here! Mr. Wing finished teaching me Nen so I returned home! I haven't decided on a Nen ability yet." They talked for a while, about what happened after they left Heaven's Arena. As they talked Killua looked around the park. "Hey guys, " he said and pointed to a baseball field. "Wanna race around there?" Gon and Zushi looked at each other then back at Killua and nodded.

Killua, Gon, and Zushi got in a starting position for a race. "Okay, " Killua said. "Three, two, one!" They all took off. Right from the start, Zushi was behind. Gon and Killua were close almost head to head. However, Gon was ahead. Soon enough Gon made it to their ending point. Killua a close second and Zushi left. "Wow, " he said when he caught up. "You guys are really fast! It was almost like you teleported!" Killua and Gon looked at each other and began to laugh. "We aren't that impressive, " Killua said slapping Zushi's back.

Killua sneezed. He looked down at his shirt. Someone had thrown dirt at him. He looked up at Gon who was whistling and rocking on his feet. "So, " Killua thought. "You wanna play that game huh?" He scooped up a handful of dirt and threw it at Gon. He laughed and before he knew more dirt hit his chest. Before he could wipe it off Gon threw more. But this time Killua dodged, making it hit Zushi in the face. "Hey, " he cried. "What was that for?" He threw a handful at Gon. Soon enough there was dirt being thrown in all directions.

"Hey, kids, " a rather old man called. "Stop throwing dirt! You're ruining the playing field!" The three boys looked at each other and burst into fits of laughter. 

Zushi ran off of the field, Killua and Gon close behind. "Hey, " he said. "Want to go to my house? Maybe on the way you can show me where you live!" Killua and Gon looked at each other then back at Zushi. "Sure, " they said. We can show you where our house is first." At that, the boys ran from the park.

Killua opened the door to the house. "Hello, " he called. When no one answered he turned to Gon and Zushi. "I guess no one's home." He gestured for them to come inside. "I wonder where Leorio and Kurapika went, " Gon said. Zushi who was looking around the living room looked up. "Are those the people you're living here with, " he asked. Killua nodded. "Yeah, " he answered. "Oh, " Gon said. "I found a note. Killua can you read this?" 

Killua scanned the note. "They're basically on a date," he said, setting it back on the counter. "Went out to eat." "Oh, " Gon said. "Hey, do we have any money?" Killua looked at him. "I should, " he replied. "Why?" Gon shrugged. "Since there's no food I thought we could go to McDonald's or something." Zushi smiled. "Yeah, " he said. "We should and then we can go back to the park!" They all looked at each other and smiled.

"We should really get bikes, " Gon said, running next to Zushi and Killua. Killua shrugged. "I don't think so, " he said. "But it would be nice." Zushi laughed. "Do you guys really need bikes, " he asked. "You're so fast and have so much stamina."  Killua and Gon looked at each other and smiled.

Soon enough Killua skidded to a stop. "We almost ran past it, " he said as Gon and Zushi stopped beside him. They all laughed and ran inside.

Killua took a fry and dipped it in ketchup. "So, " he said. "What happened after Gon and I left?" Zushi looked up in thought. "Well, " he replied. "I became a floor master but I was beaten by some really strong guy." Gon and Killua looked at each other. "Really, " Gon asked, his face lit with excitement. "That's so cool! Have you come up with a nen ability yet?" Zushi shook his head. "No, " he said. "I've has been trying but I'm not that creative."

The boys continued to eat and talk. "So," Zushi said energetically. "Am I ever going to meet Kurapika and Leorio?" Killua shrugged. "You might," he said. "Hopefully." Gon gasped making him almost choke on his food. "May-," Gon coughed. "Maybe, you could come over sometime when they are there." Zushi smiled. "Really," he said. "When?" The young boy's eyes lit up. Gon nodded. "I can ask Leorio and Kurapika," he replied. "Let's meet up at the park again tomorrow. I'll tell you their answer."

Zushi smiled. "Okay," he said. "I should probably go home anyways. My parents will start to worry." Gon frowned. "Aw," he said. "Bye." Killua sighed as he stood. "Well," he said. 'Gon and I should also get going. Kurapika and Leorio might be back soon." Gon stood up next to him. "Oh all right," he said and waved goodbye to Zushi. "See ya tomorrow then."

Killua and Gon opened the door to their house. Kurapika and Leorio were sitting on the couch watching television. They were eating from small ice cream containers. They laughed at the show they were watching before Killua cleared his throat. Kurapika leaned his head back. "Oh," he said. "Hey, kids." Leorio paused the show and turned to the kids. "Hey," he said. "You guys are back. What took so long?" Kurapika frowned his mood quickly changing. "Yeah," he said. "You guys should start getting into a routine. School starts in three days." Killua stretched. "What's with that," he asked. "If you wanted us to get into a routine we should've started a week ago." Kurapika sighed. "It doesn't matter," he said. "You guys get to bed. You should've been in bed an hour ago."

Killua scoffed. "You want us to go to bed at eight-thirty," he exclaimed. Kurapika shrugged. "For now," he said. "If you guys can get up and get ready for school on time I'll change it." Killua rolled his eyes. "Come on Gon," he said sarcastically. "If you want to stay up later we should get to bed."
