8 Days in the House

"Chop chop," Kurapika said clapping his hands. "Get your stuff ready! School starts tomorrow and if you're not ready in time I swear to god! Are your backpacks ready? Do you have clothes picked out? Get ready!" Gon and Killua were in their room, trying to get ready. But instead, they were covering their ears. "He's being too loud," Gon complained. "He keeps nagging just like Aunt Mito." Killua nodded his head. "I wish he would just shut up," he replied. After a couple more minutes of Kurapika's yelling, he finally stopped. Gon and Killua slowly uncovered their ears. "Is he done," Gon asked. Killua nodded. "I think so," he said. They got up and began to get ready for school.

In the living room, Kurapika fell onto the couch next to Leorio. Kurapika sighed and Leorio looked up from his book at him. "Stressful," he asked. Kurapika nodded and rubbed his temples. "Yeah," he said. "I just think they should've had this stuff ready at least a week ago." Leorio chuckled. "You sounded like a nagging mother," he said. Kurapika glared at him. "You act like a lazy father," he simply replied.

Leorio scoffed. "I'm busy studying," he said. "My school starts soon too." Kurapika rolled his eyes. "Yeah," he replied. "In a week. You have nothing to worry about." Leorio raised a brow. "Didn't you just say-" He was cut off. "You aren't even in school yet," he said. "How do you know what to study?" Leorio shrugged. "It's just the basics," he said. "Nothing specific." Kurapika gave a small smile.

Kurapika stood up and brushed some hair out of his face. "Well," he said. "I should get started on dinner." Leorio leaned back into the couch. "That would be nice," he said. "But before you start, can I ask you something?" Kurapiks looked back at him. "What is it," he asked. Leorio sighed. "I was just wondering when we were going to tell Gon and Killua about our whole situation," he asked. "With the school thinking that we're a married couple." Kurapika shrugged. "You can tell them," he said. "It's your fault anyway." With that, he walked down the hall into his room.

"Hey," Leorio called. "I thought you were going to cook!" "Yeah," Kurapika's voice answered. "But I'm looking for something first!" Leorio sighed and went back to reading. Kurapika soon walked out of his room and to the kitchen. He was wearing a thin grey sweater and blue jeans. And his hair was pulled back in a ponytail. "Did you change," Leorio asked him. "No," Kurapika replied in a sarcastic tone. "Your eyes are just playing tricks on you."

Leorio chuckled. "It's a good trick," he said. Kurapika blushed. Lucky for him Leorio couldn't see his face. "Don't get too sweet now," he replied. "It's a fake marriage." Leorio tapped his pen. "Well," he said. "We mine as well sell it." Kurapika scoffed. "Only when there are other people around," he said. "I'd think you'd be smart enough to get that."

There was the noise of Killua and Gon laughing in their room mixed with the sound of pots and pans. It sounded like the household of a family. Which, they were in words.

"Hey, boys," Leorio called. "Get out here dinner's ready." Killua and Gon exited their room and sat at the barstool table in the kitchen. It wasn't a big table but it was big enough for all four of them. Leorio sat across from Gon leaving one empty seat for Kurapika. "So," Killua said. "What did you make Kurapika?" Kurapika pulled the hair-tie out of his hair and got something to serve with. "Just alfredo," he said. "Nothing big."

Killua looked down at Gon's plate. "Can you even make alfredo," he asked. Kurapika glared at the boy. "Yes, I can," he said, placing some food on Killua's face. "Thank you very much." Leorio chuckled and began to eat what was on his plate. "It tastes good Pika," he said. Kurapika placed the pot on the stove. "Don't call me that," he said.

Most of the dinner was eaten in silence. Kurapika and Leorio continued to glance at each other, trying to push the other to say something. Killua noticed this. "You guys have something to say," he asked raising a brow. Kurapika shook his head. "No," he said. "I don't have anything to say." Killua looked at Leorio. "What about you," he asked.
