9 Days in the House

Kurapika woke up at about 5:30 out of habit. He must've fallen asleep in the middle of the movie because Leorio was beside him. He didn't care, just rubbed his eyes and climbed out of bed. He needed to shower and get ready for the morning. Then he needed to make breakfast and wake up everyone else.

Kurapika stretched and walked to his closet. it would be best to get dressed in the bathroom in case Leorio woke up. But what should he wear? He looked through his closet. He didn't want to wear Kurta clothes today. He was trying something different. He didn't have a lot of clothes. He would have to go shopping while Gon and Killua were at school. Damn, he should've picked something out the night before. In a rush, he pulled out a pair of light blue jeans and a green turtleneck sweater. It wasn't that cold out but it wasn't that warm either. Plus, the sweater was cute.

Kurapika climbed into the shower. What was the last thing he remembered in the movie? He'd have to continue watching it today after he went shopping. But he hated starting movies from the middle, even if he didn't watch a lot of movies. Maybe Leorio could tell him? No, he probably finished the movie himself.

Was the last thing Kurapika watched the part where the man got hung on the tree? Or was it when the girl who was supposed to be dead found alive? Or did that happen before? Kurapika sighed and turned off the water. He climbed out of the shower and took his towel off the towel rack. Before getting dressed he walked over to the mirror. He sighed as he looked at his reflection. I really do look like a girl, he thought.

Kurapika knocked on Gon and Killua's door. "Boys," he called. "Wake up. It's time for school." He heard Gon and Killua slowly get out of bed. He walked down the hall to his room and opened the door. Leorio was still asleep in the bed. Kurapika walked over to him and shook him lightly. "Leorio," he said. "Get up." Leorio shifted onto his side. "I don't have school yet," he said. "I shouldn't have to get up early." Kurapika shook him again. "Get up," he said. "It's unfair I have to get up this early and I don't even have a job."

Leorio turned his head to look at Kurapika. "Okay, okay," he said. "I'm up." Kurapika smiled at him. "Good," he said. "Get dressed, breakfast is already made." Leorio sat up and watched Kurapika walk out of the room. Just like a mom, he thought.

Killua and Gon sat at the barstool table rubbing their eyes. "Good morning," Kurapika said. "I made pancakes for breakfast. And you two need to be on the bus by seven-thirty." Killua looked up at him. "What," he asked. "We don't live that far from school." Kurapika handed him a plate of pancakes. "Yeah," he said. "But the bus needs to make other stops so eat up." He handed Gon his plate. "Leorio," he called. "Get your ass out of bed!" "Okay, okay! Hold on!"

Killua pointed looked up at Kurapika. "Give him a chance to empty the air mattress," he said. Kurapika leaned against the counter, rubbing his temples. "He didn't sleep on the air mattress last night," he said. Killua snickered. "You mean you slept in the same bed," he asked. Kurapika glared at him. "We just fell asleep while watching a movie," he said. "You dirty child."

At that moment Leorio walked out of the room. When he got to the kitchen, Kurapika handed him a mug. "Coffee," he said. Leorio smiled at him. "Thank you," he said. Kurapika looked Leorio up and down. "When you're done go change," he said. "That's not a good outfit." Leorio raised an eyebrow. "Why does it matter," he asked. "Do you have something planned?" Kurapika slapped his arm. "Just change," he said. "No questions. And wear something better than an old t-shirt and jeans."

Kurapika looked at the clock in the living room. "Okay," he said, taking Gon and Killua's plates. "Go brush your teeth and your hair." Killua looked at him, shock on his face. Kurapika raised both his eyebrows. "What," he asked. "I told you to eat quicker. Now go." Leorio chuckled as the kids ran to their room. Kurapika looked up at him. "What," he asked. Leorio smiled and took another sip of his coffee. "Nothing," he said. "You just act so much like a mom. It's kind of funny. "Kurapika glared at him. "Go change," he said grabbing his cup. He dumped the coffee down the sink. Leorio watched him before turning back to walk to their room.

In Killua and Gon's room, Gon was brushing hi teeth behind him Killua brushed his hair. "Kurapika's pretty serious about this whole school thing," he said. "Don't you think?" Gon nodded and spit out his toothpaste. "He's being bossy," he said. "I think he should calm down. School isn't that big of a deal. Right?" Killua nodded. He continued to brush his hair. He tugged at the brush then he did it again. Gon turned to look at him. "Are you okay," he asked. Killua tugged at the brush again. "It's stuck," he said, tugging the brush again. Gon looked at him. "Well I can't help you," he said. "Call Kurapika."

Killua pulled the brush again. "Kurapika," Gon called. Killua pulled again. "It's fine," he said. Kurapika poked his head into the bathroom. "What's wro-" He noticed Killua's dilemma and sighed. "Come here Killua," he said. Killua walked over embarrassed. Kurapika grabbed the brush handle and pulled it. "Ow, ow, ow," Killua said. "That hurts, stop it." Kurapika pulled again. "Well," he said finally managing to get the brush out. "It wouldn't hurt as much if you would brush your hair." Killua rubbed his head. Kurapika set the brush on the sink. "Wash your hair tonight," he said. "You're lucky your hair doesn't look that bad when it's not combed."

Killua scoffed and grabbed his toothbrush. "Thanks," he said in a cold tone. He began to brush his teeth. Kurapika walked back into the living room and sat on the couch. "Leorio," he called. "Are you done changing yet?" Leorio called back. "I'll be out in a minute." After he said that Killua and Gon ran into the living room. They were completely ready for school, backpacks and all. Kurapika looked at them and smiled. "Go stand by the door," he said. "I'm going to take pictures." Killua scoffed. "Okay," he said. "Mom."

The boys stood by the door and smiled. Kurapika took pictures on his phone. "Okay," he said looking at the clock. "Go stand outside the bus should be here in a couple of minutes."

They listened to him and walked outside. Gon rubbed his arms. "It's chilly out," he said. Killua shrugged. "Not really," he replied. "You're just weak." Gon looked at him and frowned. "Killua," he whined. "That was mean." Killua looked at Gon. "I'm sorry," he said. "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings." Gon smiled, his mood quickly changing. "It's okay," he said. "Don't want to go to school in a bad mood!"
