MISTAKEN

"Hey, Aira?? Do you believe in love at first sight??" Tanong sakin ng bespren kong si Zyne.

"Love at first sight?? Hmm, well, it depends on the mood-- I guess?" Alinlangan kong sagot.

"They said kasi, when you're alone waiting for something like a train, a bus, or a jeep or whatsoever-- when there's a man appeared in front of you, that catches your attention-- he's definitely your destiny!!" She excitedly claims.

"It's just a useless belief, Zyne." Walang gana kong sagot habang nagiimpake na ng mga gamit ko. Pupunta kasi akong Batangas to visit my Lola.

"Okay, I think I'm off to go. Bye bes." Pagpaalam ko at yinakap na ito.

Hours passed and I've arrived at the bus station.

I sat to one of those benches while waiting for the next stop.

And because I'm so bored, I roamed my eyes and saw some gals chatting with their bff's.

Ughh speaking of bff's-- I missed Zyne.

*Sighs*

Speaking of Zyne, naalala ko ang sinabi niya kanina sa akin.

"They said kasi, when you're alone waiting for something like a train, a bus, or a jeep or whatsoever-- when there's a man appeared in front of you that catches your attention-- he's your destiny!!"

Uhmm-- w-wala namang mawawala kapag susubukan ko d-diba??

I roamed my eyes then, someone caught it--- someone caught my heart.

Ahh no no-- I was just being carried away by Zyne's nonsense stories.

But..

He's kinda handsome though.

Oh my god, he's coming this way--

Hindi na ako nakagalaw pa nang umupo siya sa tabi ko habang nakatingin sa kaniyang wrist watch.

Then he throws a stare at me.

Oops.

"A-ahh s-sorry, it's just, uhm ahh--" Arghh bat nabubulol ako?

"No it's o-okay." He said as he chuckled.

Silence covered us for a while, until I break it.

"A vacation also?" I asked.

"Yea, gonna visit my mom's." At sabay umiling-iling.

"That clothes doesn't suit you. Too much casual." I commented on his style.

"It is that bad??" He worryingly asked.

"Nahh, I mean, your look is like of a businessman." Dagdag ko.

"Well, thanks." Sambit nito.

We talked for a while then a bus stops in front of us. Pasakay na sana kaming dalawa ng biglang may nagtext sa akin. Huminto ako saglit para basahin ang text.

Zyne??

I tapped the message and read it.

"Aria!! Wait for me!! I've decided na sasama na pala ako. I can't imagine my life without youuu HUHUHU."

I chuckled.

"Not gonna hop in?" I looked up to him.

"Ahh, I think you should go first. I'm gonna wait someone kinda crazy." Hiya kong sambit.

"O-oh, s-sige. Well, ingat." He said as the bus' door closes.

Maglalakad na sana ako palayo nang may nakalimutan ako itanong.

"Hey, what's your na---" Hayst wala na.

Years passed and I met him again. Yes, I met the man who I met 3 years ago in the bus station. And guess what.. We're already married!! Zyne is soooo veryyyy happyyyy with me though.

But-- his real personality shows up after we got married. He became violent and always ask for uh- you know-- when he's drunk. And as a woman, I won't always agree. Damn he's really different now. There's still some part of him being sweet though.

I'm kinda nervous today kasi ipapakilala na niya ako sa mommy niya. His mom didn't attend our wedding for some business thing.

Nasa sala na kami ng bahay nila when someone knocked on the door. My husband stands up to open it.

Surprisingly-- her mom was sooo beautifuuuul. I think mabait naman siya, based on her eyes.

"Hi po tita." I greeted her.

"Geez-- call me mama, iha." She said as she chuckled.

I can feel the shade of faint red, covering my cheeks.

Habang nagke-kwentuhan ang asawa ko at ang mama niya-- ay napansin ko ang isang lalaking nakatayo sa likod ni mama na parang kahawig ng asawa ko.

"Ah-- mama? Sino po siya?" Magalang kong tanong at sabay itinuro ang lalaking nakatayo sa likod niya.

"Oh? Him? He's Zach, Jack's older brother(my husband). Come on, say hi to your little brother's pretty wife!" Sambit ni mama.

"Hi." He welcomed me.

"Hello!!" Sagot ko pabalik.

"Kambal po talaga sila? Magkaboses na magkaboses din po sila. Ang galing!!" I accidentally said because of excitement.

Mama laughs, "Yea, they are really look alike. But unlike your husband, Zach isn't married yet."

"Hindi pa po?! Kahit mas matanda po siya kay Jack??" Gulat kong tanong sabay tumingin dito.

"Yes! He doesn't even have a girlfriend!" Iritang reklamo ni mama.

I laughed.

He just smiled, but I noticed it isn't a happy one.

"W-well.." Hiya niyang sambit.

He brush his hair with his bare hands at tinuloy uli magsalita, "I've been waiting for this girl that I met 3 years ago at the bus station."

My smile fades..

"I promised to myself that I would find this girl and marry her-- cause why not? I'm still in love with her, even it's been 3 years." He then put his elbows on his knees.

"But, I think, she's happily married now." He continued then looks at me.

A tear dropped from my cheek.

"Iha? What's wrong?" Mama asked me.

"P-po? A-ahh! Wala lang po ito. It's just- his story is so-- sad-- for me though." I faked a laugh.

Z-zyne.. I'm terribly sorry. I've mistaken someone for being my destiny-- three years ago.
