I straightened up, turning to look at her.

"Everywhere with you. In the living room. In your car. On the front lawn. At photoshoots. In public."

Dixie's POV

I felt the back of my neck grow hot, her words echoing in my brain.

She stood there, eyes truthful, teeth worrying her bottom lip. Her hand was in mine, holding me with a firm grasp, not letting go.

"Being without you—that was—I've never felt sadness like that in my life."

I watched her lips move, my brain unable to process words, my heart beating loudly in my chest.

"When we kissed that first time—in the morning—before the sun had even risen, and the whole house was quiet—"

I remembered it all clearly. Her brown eyes meeting mine as I pressed that final kiss to her cheek—the way they shone in the dim light, long eyelashes fluttering shut, her breath mixing with my own—

"I couldn't deny it anymore. Not to you—not to myself—"

Her voice dropped to a whisper, hand squeezing mine subconsciously.

"I'm in love with you, Dixie."

The whole world stopped. I drifted out of my body, into the air, watching from above as two girls stood in their shared room, holding hands in the dark.

"I'm in love with you—and—I love you—and—I want to be with you. Outside of our room."

I returned to Earth, floating down from the clouds, my breathing returning to normal, feeling completely and utterly calm.

I said nothing, her earnest eyes staring deeply into mine, both of us unmoving in the cool dark.

Her shuddered inhale was audible in the silent room as my hand—the one that wasn't entwined in hers—came to her cheek.

My thumb caressed soft skin, holding her face tenderly in my open palm.

It traveled down, tracing over her bottom lip, pulling it down lightly as I stepped in, closer.

I could hear her heart beating in her chest, our proximity closer than it had been in days.

"I love you, too,"  I whispered against her lips, kissing her with everything in me, my entire being consumed by the feeling.

I love you. I love you. I love you, too, Adds.
