"Goodnight," the little boy's mother kissed his forehead, then pulled back with a smile.
"Goodnight," he said back with a smile too.
Walking to his door, his mother walked to his father, who had been standing there since saying goodnight to him. Once his mother walked out, his father closed the door, leaving him alone in the darkness of his room.
One last glance at the closed door, the boy slowly closed his eyes, awaiting for sleep to come.
Crash!
Instantly, the boys eyes snapped open as he felt frozen in fear. After a second went past, muffled voices was heard from downstairs, slightly calming him but he was still tense.
They are arguing again, he thought as the voices grew louder.
Turning to rest on his right side, the boy closed his eyes as a tear rolled down his cheek.
I wish Jessie was here, he thought.
His older sister, Jessie, was always there when their parents argued, sometimes for no reason at all. Once it had gotten to the point his father hit his mother, which made his mother take them both and they left for a week until their father apologized and begged for them to come back.
But they still fought.
"They still love each other and us. It isn't our fault. We are going to be okay and they will too," Jessie had always said.
It always calmed him but something felt off with the way she said it, like she was uncertain of her own words. But he never questioned it.
Shutting his eyes, he awaited for sleep to come again but an icy breath touched his cheek, awaking him.
Everything all of a sudden become cold, almost like ice was stored in his bedroom walls unnoticed until now. His teeth began to chatter, as well as his feet went numb. Pulling his blanket upper to his face, he tried to warm himself but the coldness seemed unbeatable.
The moon outside also did a noticeable change. It brightened, giving the room light. He then stared at the white wall across his room, his gaze glued to it.
A dark shadowy figure suddenly rose from the ground in front of the wall and became taller as it grew larger. As it grew, darkness began to overtake the moons light, darkening the once darkened room.
Finally reaching it's limit, which was on the roof, it stopped.
Slowly, the boy sat up and kept his gaze on the unknown shadow, unable to look anywhere else but there.
"Mark Hall," it's airy voice spoke loudly and clearly.
Frozen in his position from the coldness and fear, the boy, Mark, paled as he finally realised his name was spoken by a voice from an unknown shadow.
"Mark Hall," the shadow spoke again.
"W-what do y-you want from m-me?" Mark asked, shuttering.
"I only want you to do one simple thing for me," it answered.
Finally able to break free from his position, Mark slowly got of his bed, still watching the shadow with caution incase it did anything else unexpected. He stood up with shaking legs and continued to keep his eyes locked on the shadow as he made his way to his door, where he could escape and go to his parents.
"A simple thing we both will want," it spoke again.
He froze in his tracks, unable to speak, nor move.
"W-what?" He managed to ask from the fear that had struck him to his very core.
"You'll see," was all it answered that night.
____________________________________Hello Wattpaders!
Here you are, reading Shadow...yikes! Anyways, since you're here, let me tell you a few things.
1. This is not the final draft, so don't be thinking this will be perfection.
2. If you don't like reading anything with abuse, then leave this book because I'm not warning you again. Nothing else to fear in here, so don't worry about anything to mature...unless you're counting scenes with the blood and all, then leave.
3. Of course, like every other book, there are rules in the comment section. Do not be rude to me or others and don't get into a fight, even though I love reading those. But still, don't. If you want to give constructive criticism, go ahead but be polite with it or else you're just being rude.
4. Do NOT steal my work.
5. Hmm...am I missing something? I don't think so...
6. Oh wait! I have completely (only knowing the basics of each chapter) planned this, so I know how many chapters there will be. If you're counting both the prologue and epilogue, then there will be nineteen chapters.
7. Updates once a week, maybe twice if I can.
8. And let's not forget...THANKYOU! Thankyou so much for choosing to read Shadow! Hope you enjoy!
9. That's all!
