Crash!
Jamie's eyes snapped open with fear of what had just then smashed somewhere in the kitchen. He sat up and looked as his sister, who continued to sleep peacefully. Standing up, he walked over to his sister's bed, tapping her lightly.
"Kayla," Jamie said, tapping her again when she didn't wake up, then again.
"Kayla," He pulled off her blanket, seeing his sister's eyes open wide in terror.
"Kayla!" Jamie shook her, fearing the worst, which was his sister being dead.
But she didn't wake up, nor did she make a single sound.
"Please wake up! Please!" He cried, wishing she would from that moment wake up, alive and well.
Slowly, he stopped, finding no use to try and wake up the dead.
"Jamie," An unkown voice said with an airy and eerie voice.
"W-what?" Jamie looked around him and saw where the voice belonged to the shadow that stood tall on the wall in front of him.
It instantly ran out of his room once his eyes caught it's appearance, it's footsteps being the only sound it could only much reveal of where it was going.
Curious, Jamie began to follow the unkown shadow, leaving his room and sister.
Each step he took, the closer he got to the shadow that ran each time he saw it. Silence hung in the air, except for the footsteps of both the shadow and him. Time went past with him following the shadow with fear clear in his eyes, getting closer and closer, nearly within its reach.
"W-who are y-you?" Jamie asked, trembling with fear as he wished to turn and run away, never looking back.
But, unknowingly, he couldn't stop himself from continuing to follow the shadow that walked further and further.
The shadow walked into the kitchen with him trailing behind without any control of his actions, opening draws and dropping things off the kitchen bench it passed. Plates smashed onto the floor, as knives and forks, along with cups, were thrown like they were harmless fluffy pillows.
The noise of what it had done would easily wake any being up, which is including his sleeping parents.
Mommy and Daddy, please help me, Jamie thought, hoping they would come and save him from whatever he was going through at the moment or wake up from the horrible nightmare he still dreamt in that seemed neverending.
"Follow me now, boy," The shadow suddenly said, disappearing in the darkness of the lounge room it had entered.
He tried to stop himself from continuing to walk but nothing worked, no matter how hard he tried to place at least one foot solid on the ground. It was like something was controlling both of his legs, which he silently guessed was the shadow that called out his name a few times during his struggle to stay still.
"Not that long now, boy," It told him as it reached the glass vase of beautiful variety of flowers placed inside that was his mothers, disappearing completely from his sight.
Jamie froze within his tracks, staring at the vase of flowers with wide eyes filled with only fright and with a pale face.
Suddenly, the vase had exploded.
It's glass was thrown everywhere within it's reach as some had hit him on his knees and face that made him sceam with horror. Flowers reached the ground, burnt as smoke surrounded them like a fire had just been lit upon them.
Eerily, the shadow made an appearance on the right side of the vase as if nothing had happened at all.
Only feeling fear all over, Jamie turned and surprisingly, ran back down the hall with all the speed he could master in his tiny legs.
He made it to his room and slammed the door behind, wishing he could lock the door, but couldn't because the door didn't have one. Heart beating fast like no tomorrow, he ran to his sister, who still was in the same position he had last seen her.
Quickly, he crawled under his bed and hid there, staying silent as possible.
But he was quickly pulled out by a hand that could not be seen or felt, making him let out a horrified scream.
With his hands, Jamie tried to reach back to his bed by digging his nails in his carpet but, unfortunately, the hand was still latched onto his ankle, continuing to pull him out of his hiding spot. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he couldn't try not letting the hand get him no more.
Instantly, the hand let go once he gave up trying but didn't notice since he couldn't feel any of the hand.
He looked up and saw the shadow on the roof of his room as he panted and cried. It looked down at him for a moment, then instantly made its way to his window, which was where it unknowingly disappeared from his sight again.
Silence hung the air, seeming to become more deafening by each second that passed.
It is gone? Jamie wondered, standing up with trembling legs and slowly and cautiously approached his window.
That was when the window smashed into bits like something invisible was thrown at the window, striking him in the face with little pieces of sharp glass. He screamed as he jumped back with a startle and looked around to see if the shadow was anywhere to be seen.
But then suddenly, something instantly pushed onto Jamie's back that made his face land right into the sharp glass that was still attached to the window, stabbing deeply into his skin. Screams of his filled the air as blood dripped down his face quickly, reaching the ground in puddles of dark blood.
Once a minute had passed, Jamie was pulled back from the window and then his face was instantly slammed into the glass again and again. His eyes stung in more pain than he ever thought he would suffer, along with everywhere else on his bloody and pained face that got more bloody each time his face met the glass of his window.
It didn't take long until the screams that left his bleeding mouth for them to be silenced completely and forever.
_______________________________Hello Wattpaders!
I know it's a short update, but it's one of the horror chapters and I'm not good at making those long. Also, as you may know or not, I have updated really early, which I'm pretty sure is one day after the other update.
But, unfortunately, the next update will be most likely not early because the next one will not be something I'm going to really enjoy writing I guess.
So, did you like this chapter? Any constructive criticism?
Also, thankyou so much to everyone who has continued reading Shadow! I seriously thought this story was going to not be really read, voted or commented on! Thankyou!
I really feel like it's getting really close to the end...yikes!
But, anyways, hope you had enjoyed today's read and see you all next update!
