"Natalie!" Octane yelled out as he practically launched himself in her arms, the two hugged each other for a long moment, both relieved to have gotten there safely.
The legends have been teleported in the launch room, a room that they had previously entered in so that their physical form would be in "the games". The capsules opened up and all of them managed to get away safely from the impending disaster that would have happened if they remained there. The scene caused by Wattson and Octane quickly moved on to the others, at first it was Lifeline, who went and hugged Bloodhound. Then bangalore shook their hand and Gibraltar appeared from behind, wrapping all of them up into a bear hug. Eventually everyone were exchanging hugs and affection, forming one big group hug.
Even Revenant, who was opposed to the idea of involving the other legends, only to find out about the shut down of the games, was now more relaxed. He put a hand on Loba's shoulder, not sure if she would be okay with him hugging her. But instead, she put her arms around him and pulled him into a warm embrace, staying like that for a long moment. It took them all a second to realize that Crypto wasn't there.
When Loba finally pulled away, she turned around in search of Crypto, quickly convinced that he was somehow in the middle of the giant group hug.
By pushing past the others, excusing herself and breaking a few people apart, she finally arrived to the center of the group hug, everyone now confused on what she was doing, and still, no Crypto.
Pause.
She felt a hole punched right into her heart, panic settling in.
"Where is he?" She mumbled under her breath, completely unheard by the others.
"WHERE IS HE?"
Finally they turned their heads towards her, throwing confused glances at each other until they slowly understood what she was talking about.
"...Crypto,"Wattson read out on the only capsule that remained closed, she put a hand on it, feeling her whole body freeze.
"...No.."
Loba approached her, and when she saw that it was empty, she slowly took a few steps back, turning around to try and find anything, any machinery, that could've teleported him there with them.
But there was no such thing.
The only other source of control over the games was destroyed, they destroyed it. It was their fault.
Loba sank down to her knees, quietly sobbing as she realized that her last words to him were "We'll see you on the other side."
All the while he knew he was not going to make it, that he would die there. In complete silence, the other legends approached her, putting a hand on Loba's shoulder as they kneeled down with her, almost to respect Crypto's sacrifice and passing. He truly was the one and only legend.
That day was a very memorable day in everyone's lives, Loba and Revenant soon ran away together, living a life on the go. When she needed it most Revenant was her support system and so they pushed each other through each day.
Lifeline managed to raise enough funds with her role in the games for the Frontier Corps, still doing volunteer work and helping more and more people with her incredible talents.
Bangalore, with the help of Lifeline got to get back to the IMC home base, finding to her surprise, her brother Jackson alive.
Caustic... the only thing he couldn't predict was that his gasses could do good, his implemented research during the games brought loads of medical information and became a well respected doctor. But he still was put into therapy.
Gibraltar joined Lifeline in the volunteer work, but worked more in the frontline, saving lives and building shelters for protection.
Bloodhound invested themselves a lot with crime investigations, becoming an essential asset in their team, their advanced tracking skills made them more able than any other detective at finding hidden clues.
Wraith, once the apex games were completely destroyed, was able to research her past in depth. However no one has heard of her ever since.
Mirage, having built his fame, became a renowned celebrity. But fame and money was not his forever plan, in fact, he shortly after returned home to his mother, using his money to find out where his missing brothers went.
Pathfinder wasn't sure on what to do once the games were closed, so he simply decided to follow and help Mirage out with finding his brothers and in the meantime, also research into the identity of his creator.
Wattson and Octane... well, that is a story for another time, and perhaps, for another fanfic ;)-A.N-
