Chapter twenty seven: Teaming up

Daniel's POV.

We (all the gang members) were seated and were talking about different stuff when Evan's phone rang.

I heard because I was seated next to him. He made me his second in command so I'm respected by all of them.

'Silence'. He said to shut us up and every soul in the cafeteria shut their gutters up.

'Hello?' He said to the phone, from his tone I knew he didn't know whoever called him

Suddenly his face turned grave.

Anger. Panic.

Swam in his eyes but his face remained calm. As calm as the sea before a storm begins.

'Don't. You. Dare. Touch. Her'.

With that I knew something was wrong. I quickly looked around and spotted Ivy sitting with a red headed girl at the corner of the room.

I visibly relaxed but soon sat up again.

Who could he have meant? His parents were always surrounded by at least ten bodyguards so I'm pretty sure he didn't mean his mom.

Who could he have.....oh no.

There was only one other girl Evan cares about except his mother and sister.

Lee.

But what did they do to her? What did they want to do to her? Was it James?

Of course it had to be him.

Who else would do that?

'I swear if you touch her I'll--'. Evan was cut off by a girl screaming.

'Leave her alone. Please please don't harm her'. He started screaming, everywhere was silent.

'Evan calm down, what's wrong?'. I tried to calm him down even when he was on the phone.

'Don't tell me to calm down. They have her now. Do you know what they can do to her?'. He whispered yelled and turned his attention back to the person on the phone.

The person ended the line just as Evan's face turned white.

'What's wrong?'.

'He-they-s-said they'd k-kill her'. He said looking panicked.

'Who is he? Who are they? Have any idea?'.

'I don't fucking know who they-- I  know---james'.

And with that he stood up, stalking to the table where James was sat he dragged him out of the cafeteria like a rag doll. I actually got scared for James's life and sprinted towards the flower garden where they were headed.

'Where is she?'. Evan asked already delivering several blows to James's face before I got there.

'Evan please calm down'.

'Stay out of this'. He yelled at me.

'If it was the person you love that was kidnapped like that would you calm down?'. Then seeming to remember that 'my love' was his sister, he blinked like he didn't know what to say next and settled with.
'Just stay out of this'.

Realising it's best if I just watch if I didn't want to get my nose broken like James's own already was.

'I swear it's not me'.

'Stop fucking lying and tell me where she is'.

'I'm not lying. I swear it'. That earned him another blow.

'Fine, keep hitting me. I'm tired of this life already. You can just take my life when you're at it'. He said resigned.

Something in his tone must have hinted that he was actually innocent because Evan left him immediately then began to back off, scratching his head vigorously.

'Arrrg'.

I moved closer to him and placed a hand on his arm.

'Who the fuck did this then?'.

'The holos'.

'What?'.

'I'm sure it's them'. James said.

The holos were another cult group founded by a former member of our school.

Let me cut the story short, Isaiah was a member of the venom cult who rebelled against them and was punished by Evan and he had to leave the school. He then went to another school not far from our school and started Hus own cult group there and named it The holos.

You can imagine the amount of hatred he has for Evan so it's very obvious he did it.

'But he wasn't the one that spoke to me'.

'Of course he doesn't want you to know now'.

'What did the person tell you?'.

'He said Lee is with them and if I want her back i have to come to them alone'.

'You can't go to them alone. God knows what they'll do to you'.

'Do I have a choice? The girl's there now, probably suffering. Because of me'. His voice broke off at the end and I saw that he was trying not to cry.

'They'll obviously hurt you if you go alone'. I stated.

'I don't care'.

'Don't make decisions rashly. Let's think before we act'.

'Do you have any plan?'.

'No, but I'll think of something'. I said raking my brain.

'I can help'. James added, bringing our attention back to him.

'How?'. Evan bit.

'We can join the both cults, I know my cult Is not strong enough but it's better than risking your life'. He said and it totally made sense.

The holos were more powerful so if we go alone we'll probably lose, but if we join forces there's probability we win.

I could see it on Evan's face that he didn't think the idea good because of his hatred towards James so I whispered in his ear and he saw the advantage if joining forces and he agreed.

'Fine'.

He then reached down to pull James up.

'We start devising a plan today after school'.

He was silent before he said what I had told him.

'Thanks buddy'. He said and hugged James.

James looked stunned clearly not expecting that.

His face broke into a smile. More like a shy smile.
