We ran into other groups, but they all were hostile, thinking we were shapeshifters, or Lefu. We left them alone and continued on our way. Leo and Flo seemed to get along well enough, although it was mostly because Trevor and I were friends. We could both tell they didn't like each other. One of the huge arguments between them was that Flo wasn't using her powers and was weak, while Leo was using his too much, and might overrun Trevor.
"Do you guys stay with us after this is over? Or do you go back to Lefu?" I asked, causing the others to hush and walk even more quietly at the name of the wolf.
"We stay with you. I think after though, we can only talk in your thoughts." Leo responded, a sneer in his voice as he interrupted Flo.
"That's...true." Flo admitted, her petals seeming to coil against my palm.
Leo licked his paw on Trevors shoulder, lounging on an imaginary rock.
"Stop." Flo whispered, her voice sounding worried.
I stopped, being the only one to since the others hadn't heard her. They all turned to me and cast confused glances around.
"What is-"
"Sh." I whispered, interrupting one of Cayden's friends.
I think Lefu is here. Flo said, me only realizing she hadn't spoken aloud. Look.
As Flo showed me her powers for the first time, everything seemed to disappear aside from living beings, such as people and small animals. And Lefu. I looked at the others, taking note that they stepped back in fear and shock. To my new vision, they looked like yellow blurs, since they weren't the main focus. I turned to Lefu, who was crouching in what was a shrub, his body seeming like a black coiling mass. With some quick instructions from Flo, I pointed at Lefu and...
nothing happened. At first at least.
Dozens of poisonous flowers and sharp leaves, rushed towards Lefu, while delicate looking pale flowers wrapped around the wolf's paws. Lefu let out an impressed growl before slicing through the flowers at his feet, causing Flo to cry out in sadness and anger. Thankfully, Lefu wasn't fast enough to dodge the entourage of flowers and leafs, so he got cut in quite a few places, before he was able to stumble out, causing the others to ready their weapons.
"Calm down children, you have proven your worth. I've come to give some advice." Lefu growled, his voice scaping out of his jaws like rocks against rocks. "It'd be wise to listen."
We hesitated, but eventually let FLo and Leo convince us that he was telling the truth.
"Flower, could job at helping your humans so far. I was just about to pounce before you attacked. Leo," he turned, his lip seeming to curl in a snarl, "You have failed your humans. I could've easily killed at least three of your humans before you even summoned your fangs. Also, you've been leading them on a dangerous route, unlike Flower who gave her group a decently safe path." Lefu growled, causing the tattoo to disappear under Trevor's shirt in shame. Flo seemed to poof her petals out more, wrapping some around my wrist.
"Anyways, it was wise to team up, but I must warn you all that more powerful creatures than even me are ahead, and even two Guides will suffer under their strength. You two," he pointed his snout at Trevor and I, "Will need to go to the Ashen Tree."
