I woke up, looking down at myself only to see the body of the raccoon, glowing beside the tree. I looked around and saw Trevor summoning a faint ball of light incase I didn't calm down. I sat down to show I was sane, but couldn't figure out how to dismiss this form.
Try doing what you did for getting rid of Vision. Flo commented, confusion clear in her thoughts.
I did, and it left, thankfully. Trevor burst out laughing as soon as I did.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing! You'll see." He wheezed."Oh my god." I whispered, staring in shock at the raccoon ears and tail that had become part of me.
I looked at Trevor who didn't know until now that he had basically the same thing, just for lions.
"That explains why everyone looked at us weird." Trevor commented, reaching up to poke one of the lion ears. "Do you think the animal ears replaced our human ears?" He reached up to poke where normal ears usually were.
"Yeah, I already checked." I answered.
"Why does your tail only have one stripe? I thought all raccoons had at least
three." Cayden asked, drinking more water from the small stream we had found.
I shrugged and ignored his question. We had been able to leave the desert-ish place safely, and were a lot closer to the end of the forest now. I flinched and wirled towards a bush as a twig snapped. I sighed in relief as it turned out to be only a squirrel. I knew everyone else did too, since I heard them sigh in relief. Well, that and one of Flo's powers was telling others emotions. Everything seemed dangerous this close to the exit since all the creatures here were even more powerful than Lefu, who was our best fighter.
I hadn't been able to get far in learning about the raccoons strange powers, but I found some small things that helped. If I poked the stripe on my tail, I and anyone or anything touching me(aside from the ground) would turn invisible. Also, If I fused the raccoon powers and Flo's powers, I could make things. The only cost I had found because of that so far was extreme exhaustion. Flo could send waves and tides of different kinds of flowers, some poisonous, some healing, some vines to trap something too. She could let us have something called Vision, which is where I only see living things, not including plants. Then there's obviously the feeling thing, but I don't use that as much.
"We need to move. Now." Lefu growled, his head and ears pricked towards some sound only he could hear.
I looked up at the sky and noticed that all the birds had left, leaving silence in their wake. Flo and I sent some flowers out, Oleanders, the flowers of caution, to see if they found anything. They were instantly crushed by some being. Lefu and I shared a glance before trying to get everyone to get moving. After a while, we eventually did, with Trevor and Leo in the front and Lefu in the back, his ears trained backwards. Every once in a while, I would send out more Oleanders, but they were all destroyed wherever they bloomed. Eventually I just used Vision, and looked behind us. I yelped in horror as I saw a huge mass of gray following us. In the middle, around the heart, masses of yellow and dark red swirled. So they were confused, angry, and hopeful? Whatever it was was a confusing creature. Lefu butted me in the back with his nose, his eyes wide in emergency and terror. This time, I knew why.
"We need to go faster guys." I whimpered, pushing against Emily, urging her to hurry.
The rest of the group took in Lefu and I's terror and we all started to jog instead of walking. Over the course of time, I had become our big groups watcher, the scout, and the lookout. I think it's because the raccoon gave me calmness and some slight wisdom. And with Flo's Vision and flowers, it would be foolish to not use those. We came across a huge double sided door, big gray walls surrounding it for as far as we can see. The door seemed to glow blue, making the walls around it to glow a blue-ish gray. However, holding the doors together was a huge black lock, it's keyhole at least as tall as Leo's lion, which was as tall as a two story building.
"This is the door. The wall wraps around the whole forest, making this the only exit." Leo said, his voice shaky instead of being a growl like normal.
"How do we op-"
Darion was interrupted by a low growl that seemed to make even the sky shiver. We all slowly turned around to see the slumbering beast we had past in the desert, staring at us with empty pale eyes and its pale teeth dripping pale ooze over it's black fur. Emily, Bendis, and most of the jocks got their weapons ready instantly, while Darion and the remaining guys tried to figure out the lock, casting fearful glances over their shoulders.
"The Lost." Flo whispered, her voice seeming small behind terror.
