Chaos erupted. Teens started screaming, some people pulled out pocket knives, some pulled out their phones to call 911, and others just stood in shock or horror. I was among the ones that stood still, Emily started shrieking her head off, Darian pulled out his phone, and Bendis pulled out a switchblade.
"Not yet Lefu." Ms. Jinx chimed, ringing out over the screams and shouts.
The wolf stopped and looked out over the sea of teens, who had grown silent in fear and anxiety. It seemed to be looking for specific people, because it ran so fast it seemed to disappear for a few seconds up to a few people, including me. When it reached me, it opened its jaw and a white flower bloomed out, falling towards me, which I caught. It seemed to melt into my left palm, some of its petals still sticking out as my skin healed around it.
Lefu, I think the wolf, looked up at Ms. Jinx. She nodded approvingly and smiled, causing Lefu to trott back into the forest, with whatever else was waiting. Emily, Bendis, and Darian stepped back from me, while I tried to get my left hand as far away from the rest of me as possible. I looked around, trying to see who else got something. It looked like one person in every group got one, but not all of them were flowers. Was that a bird? I looked back at my hand, were the flower was almost submerged into my flesh, aside from a few pale petals. It looked like a Malvaceae, but instead of being red or yellow, it was white, with its middle stem being a pale blue. I looked back at my team in despair. Way to gain their trust right?
What the hell did that wolf do? I thought.
"Alright! Since Lefu is back in his place, lets begin! As you saw, a few special people got gifts from the forest! These will serve as hints, or guides really! If a team doesn't have one, then you'll have to convince an animal in the forest to help. Maybe some of you might get Lefu!" Ms. Jinx chimed, a sing-song voice coating each word like globs of glue.
Then, everything went black, and I felt myself hitting the ground.
