What the hell? I thought, waking groggily up in a small forest clearing.
I looked around and saw three other people, each still asleep. I felt as though something wasn't right on the ground beneath my left hand. I looked down and yelped in surprise to see a dozen different kinds of flowers sprouting and blooming. Alstroemeria, the flower of friendship and fortune. And also a few lilies, I think the flower used most for funerals. I stood up, snatching my left hand into my right hand, checking to see if any bugs were on me. I froze as my fingers brushed past pedals.
Did I pick up a flower?
I turned my hand over, and stared in shock at the pale pedals coming out of my palm. I snapped my head over to looks at one of the others as they got up, Darian was it? He froze when he saw my hand. As Emily and Bendis woke, they also starred. We all stood there for at least a whole minute, staring at the innocent pedals.
"Wow. You guys are so lazy. You know that we should start moving if you don't want to be eaten by bears right?"
Everyone snapped towards this new voice, which turned out to be me, but not me. The voice was coming through my throat, but it wasn't my voice. My voice was dull, kinda deep but not really, and was actually male. This voice sounded like a bell, ringing out at a high pitch, and it sounded female.
"Why are you such a know it all Asco? Do you know the way out?" Bendis asked cautiously, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.
"He doesn't. I do you idiot." The strange voice chimed.
My left arm flew up like a string pulled on it like a ragdoll, bringing the flower into view.
"Can you not talk through my voice, and not keep yourself in my hand?" I asked, silently thanking God that my voice was my own again.
"Oh shut it." The flower snapped, once again stealing my voice away. "You should be thanking me I chose your hand. And your indominant one at that. I've seen other guides take the place of someone's eye."
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?" Darian screamed, causing everyone to look at him in shock.
"I have our...guide... and it can talk, just through my throat." I explained, answering before the flower stole my voice again.
    "Yeah." Bendis added.
Emily and Darian looked at us like we were crazy.
"How are you so calm? A flower is literally in your body!" Emily asked, gesturing at the flower petals, which had grown so that it seemed to take up my whole wrist.
"That's not as bad as being able to die here." Bendis replied, his voice losing its previous courage, replacing it with a dullness that made it echo on the trees around us.
No one responded to that, so the flower spoke up.
"You guys may want to start moving. The bears will be here soon."
Everyone agreed. We didn't know if the flower was telling the truth or just wanted us to hurry up, but either way it didn't matter.
"Wait. Where's my phone?" Bendis mumbled, fumbling in his pockets, trying to find something that wasn't there.
"I stored all of your things in my stem so we can move faster. If you want one, then just ask Asco here, but we have to move!" Flower snapped.
At that, we all started moving in the given direction, which was north, since we were at the south end.
