Chapter 16

I rushed to the bus, breathing hard. Once I say next to Bella I started to calm down.
"Ummm Cassidy are you ok?" She asked
"NO! My ears have been.....infected! I heard a girl say a cuss word!" I waited for her dramatic gasp instead she just died laughing.

"What...what's so funny??"

"Nothing haha only that your such a goody two shoes! You act like you've never heard it before"
"I know I guess I'm just going to have to get used to it. Haha" I said with my head down.

Once we got to the bus stop we walked home from there which by the way is a ten minute walk! Do they expect me to actually walk that far??

I busted into the door and yelled "Dad I'm home! And we need to work on the whole walking from the bus stop to the house process thing because I am not willing to walk ten min-"

" Dang Cassidy I remember you being lazy but not this lazy!" It was Alex! We used to be best friends in California until he moved to Alaska.

"ALEX!" I sprinted over to him and put my arms around him. he has gotten so tall, considering I have been taller than him my whole life. He looks so different, now he has dark brown hair that he kind of just pushes to the side; his skin tone is tan and his eyes are a deep hazel color.

"Woah now did I ever say you could touch me" he jerked back, I just stood there with a blank expression on my face.

"Haha i'm just kidding come here" He picks me up like I'm a light, little Barbie doll and swings me around.

He puts me down and I look up at him. We kind of just stand there, to break that awkward silence I say "Wow it's been 4 years, what are you doing here??"

"My swim team is having a break for this fall-spring do my mom had the idea of coming up and staying here with you guys. We have had this idea for a while, I guess you can say we are good at keeping secrets from you" he winked at me and smirked

"Thanks I feel so included" I say sarcastically rolling my eyes

Then I hear a shreak, I see Alex's mom running towards me down the hall with her arms out ready for a hug.

Suddenly the room gets heavier and I can't breathe. She is like a python squeezing the air out of me.

"Cant....breathe....help" I whisper signaling Alex to get her off of me.

"I'm sorry Cass its just I haven't seen you in ages!" She says finally releasing me.

" I still remember the old days when you two were both 3 years old and-"

"NOT THIS STORY!" Alex and I said simultaneously

" Aww come on its a cute little story." she giggled "you two used to run around the yard butt naked and play in the mud" she died laughing

Alex's face got a tomato red, but mine was probably the color of lava! This story is so embarrassing!!

"MOM! How many times do I have to tell you that happened 13 years ago it's time to let go" he exclaimed

We both looked at each other and smiled awkwardly. We were probably both thinking "what now?"
