And Boom, Character Change!

In another universe, Enji had met Izuku a lot earlier than he did in this one. Over there, he was Uncle Enji, Hizashi's brother. Over there he was still an asshole, still abusive to his kids, still a terrible father and hero, but he never pushed his kids till they were permanently injured, till they ran away.

Yes, Toya still had slight burn scars all over his body from where he had tried to outlast Enji's fire. Yes, Shoto still had the burn around his eye from where his mother poured tea on him. Yes, Rei had broken a bit and was institutionalized. Yes, Fyumi still ends up trying to take care of them all for a while. And yes, Natso still hates Enji.

But Toya had been stopped before he could hurt himself too much and was then limited on how much he could push. But Shoto didn't have nearly as many scars and burns on the rest of his body as he could have. But Rei had since been declared stable and moved back in with the rest, Enji being careful of how far he could go now. But Fyumi now had help, wasn't shouldering everything alone. But Natso also didn't hate him as much as he could have.

In this universe, they also had the Midoriyas, both of whom would cuddle and comfort anyone who looked even the slightest bit sad. Though they stayed pretty clear of Enji, who did the same (only able to imagine what Hisashi would do if he were to injure one of them, even if just on accident, it was not something he wanted to see for real).

Along with the Midoriyas, they also got the biweekly visits of All Might. Enji doesn't know why he shows up, but after the first time he reluctantly allowed the hero to stay, he couldn't get rid of him. It was annoying.

Because of that, Midoriya meets All Might far earlier than he usually does, which gives him far more time to acclimate to One for All and learn how to not, you  know, break his bones and stuff. Which in turn sets off a chain reaction that somehow ends with Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto all becoming really good friends by middle school.

Oh, and there's another difference, Enji allows Shoto to go to an actual middle school instead of homeschooling or online schooling the boy until UA. This leads to Shoto becoming friends with Tenya and Momo. Izuku also befriends a genius inventor by accident and manages to pull all his friends into being her test dummies with him.

But that isn't what we're here for. We're here to see how Endawhore changed into Enji who changed into a pretty chill dude.

With all the positive (and threatening -CoughHisashiCough-) people in his life, it's no real wonder how just one disappointed look from Inko had him avoiding actively being an absolute abusive asshole. But it wasn't until Izuku was old enough to notice all his small tells that things really changed. There was just something about Midoriya hugs that made you feel like you were floating, and Izuku's happened to be the best of the lot, even his cousin Shota was no match for him (and that's saying something because he's a Pro Hero that can get kids to stop crying just by patting them on the back). His hugs made everything else just melt away, worries, anger, fear, stress, everything. It was a good skill to have when aiming to become a hero like he was.

Anyway, it was nearing UA's Entrance Exam for their year, and Izuku could practically see the stress hanging in the air around the Todoroki Estate. He could tell that it was mostly due to the stress roiling off Enji so he ambushed the man. Having long since realized that the man was actively avoiding him and his mother. He tackles the man into a hug, not letting go even when he tenses.

After a good thirty minutes, Izuku finally lets go, turning on his heel and walking away, not looking back because he already knows his face is a weird mix of determined and embarrassed. He walks right past where Toya was frozen at the other end of the hallway, carefully ignoring his absolutely stunned face.

After that, Izuku gives Enji hugs once a month, maybe twice if it looks like he needs it, and Enji mellows out so much that even his fans are starting to notice the difference as it bleeds into his Hero Work.

And that's the main difference between the two universes, in that one, he hadn't already passed the point of no return by the time Izuku came into his life, and that made all the difference.
