After that first hangout, Lucas and I started speaking to each other more around the office and hanging almost every single weekend. For some reason, I had come to the realization that I had let myself become vulnerable. I had let myself think with my heart and not my head. You know that feeling you get when everything is actually going well in life you start to question why? Or the fact that nothing bad has happened to you in whole and you're thinking that something is going to happen. That's how I felt with my feelings about Lucas and me. Everything seemed fine but, I still had a feeling deep down inside that something would happen.

Lucas POV
"I've already told you multiple times father. I won't do it. Im not ready."
"Lucas please, you're not a child anymore. You need to learn how life works and all but please comeback."
"Father ever since i've left, I have realized that my lifelong dream may be coming true. I will return when I know I need to. Now isn't the time."
"Lucas don't hang up yet-"
*beep
Today's the day that I do it. I've been overthinking how everything will go perfectly today. I need to keep that in mind or else I know i'm bound to mess up.
I check my watch and saw it was time for me to start getting ready.
It didn't really take me that long to get dressed for today. I finished putting on my top and look at myself in the mirror.
To think that I had everything and more. Living my life lavishly and yet it still made me empty. Money may buy others happiness but it's not the same for me. My whole life I lived better than most and was treated that my life would remain that way. I would never have to lift a finger and do anything. As I got older I never realized how lonely I truly was.
"Maybe today will give me strength and courage to do what I want to tell Y/n."

Y/n POV

flashback

"Y/n i'm so happy for you. You've finally been adopted today by a family in South Korea. They have a son who's a few years older than you. I hope you're excited to meet your new brother and parents."
Y/n was about 3-4 years old at the time. She had been put up for adoption as her biological parents couldn't take care of her. She had been in the orphanage since she was a baby.
As Y/n was sitting on the chair at the front desk of the adoption agency looking out the window. She saw many cars drive by and every second made her anxious. She finally saw a car pull up and park in the parking space across the building. She saw a man,a woman and a teenaged boy come out the car. They all walked inside and she stopped looking outside the window. She met the man and woman before but the boy was a new person she had yet to meet.
"Y/n i'm sure you remember us. This is Ji-yong, your new older brother." said the lady
Y/n looked up at the boy and he bent down to her level. He smiled at her and reached his hand out to her. She immediately felt safe around him and instead tackled him into a hug.
"I think Y/n likes you Ji-yong!" exclaimed the man.
From that day on Y/n was very close and depended on Ji-hong 24/7. She would greet him when he left and when he came back from school. He would hang out with her every single day. In Y/n's world, their home was a happy place but she didn't know any better.
"You want to do what now?!" yelled their mother
"I said i'm moving out after graduation. I finally might be able to make it in the industry. I've already been training for six years." said Ji-yong
"Ji-yong, the only reason we went along with the training was so you'd get bored and tired. I mean six years in training? Please you know they will only tell you no again. It's better to give up and study business. You know, something you will be good at and make money with." said their father
"But I am serious about this. I know what i'm doing just please let them take care of me and pursue my dream. I've been wanting this since I was 12."
"Ji-yong what about us? Your parents? You're so selfish to go and do this. Do you have any idea how we feel about this? Think of the example you're setting for the kid." said his mother
"Why do you insist on calling Y/n 'the kid'? She's my sister and I know Y/n will be proud of me. If only my parents were."
His mom went silent at the comment he gave her and his father look up at him.
"Ji-yong go pick up Y/n from school." said his mother
"Why won't you guys do it?"
"Don't talk back to your mother! Do as you are told!" yelled his father

Ji-yong walked to Y/n's elementary school and waited at the front. As the school bell rang, many students came out and started walking their respective ways home. Ji-yong scanned the kids coming out until he finally saw the familiar h/c with hair barrettes that matched her school uniform.
"Y/n!"
"Ji-yong!"
Ji-yong bent down to Y/n's height as she ran up to give him a hug.
"Excuse me? Are you perhaps Y/n's guardian?"
Ji-yong looked up to see a women who was holding a folder.
"I'm her older brother Ji-yong."
"I see. I hear your name a lot in the classroom. I'm Y/n's teacher Mrs.Chen."
"It's nice to meet you Mrs.Chen."
"Likewise. I've been meaning to speak to your parents about Y/n's learning."
"Is it bad?"
"No not at all. If anything this is a good thing. If you could give these papers to your parents and they could give me a call. That would be amazing!"
Ji-yong nodded his head as he took the folder from her hands. He walked with Y/n and she told him about her whole school day and was happy to see her smiling and laughing.
"We're home!" said Y/n
"Oh Hello Y/n." said their mother
"Here the teacher wanted me to hand you these. It's about Y/n's learning." said Ji-yong
"Y/n's learning? Is she failing? Y/n go up to your room!" exclaimed their father
"No she said it's a good thing about her learning."
They all sat at the dinner table quietly as they were eating.
"So Ji-yong you're graduating high school in two days and Y/n you're graduating from kindergarten in two days also." said their mother
Their father was looking at the paperwork inside the folder.
"It seems that Y/n's teacher said Y/n was selected to attend a school in California for a better education. It also says she would be taking college classes in her high school year as well if she wants to." said the dad
He looked at it more and sighed.
"I don't see the point in sending her. She won't get attending college. We will find her a nice husband to take care of her after high school."
"Are you crazy? This is a once in the life opportunity to do this. She's a really smart kid."
"Ji-yong, you better count your blessings because my patience is getting low." said their father
Ji-yong got up from the table and went to his room he shared with Y/n. He was laying on his bed and facing the wall when he heard a small knock on the door. Her heard the door open and felt the bed dip a little bit.
"Are they arguing again?" asked Ji-yong
Y/n just let out a small mhm as she sat down o the bed.
"Y/n I want you to know that no matter what happens, don't let anyone tell you what your dreams can or can't be."
Ji-yong hugged Y/n as he could hear her slowly fall asleep.

a few days later

Y/n was playing on the tire swing outside of her house. She saw Ji-yong with a suitcase and backpack. He gave her a hug.
"I love you Y/n! I'll see you later!"
"I love you too Ji-yong! Bye!"
Y/n watched as her brother looked back at her a smiled. He walked away and made sure Y/n would not see him shed a tear.
Y/n continued to swing as she noticed a small ball bounce towards her feet. She got off the swing and picked it up.
"Sorry that was my ball!"
Y/n looked up at the boy who said that
He had dark hair and brown eyes.
"My name is Y/n,what's yours?"
"Mines Minjae!"
