10-The Jack of All Trades

When the trio arrived to the address, they had entered into a gated community with estates everywhere.
"These houses are so nice." exclaimed Y/n
"No kidding!" replied Lucas
They pulled the car up towards the curb in front of the home. They got out and followed Bolin as he rang the doorbell.
"Welcome!" said GD as he opened the door.
"Come on it!" he said.
"GD,this is Yukhei and this is Y/n."
GD stared at Y/n and Lucas noticed and seemed confused.
"It's nice to meet you both. Please follow me dinner, I have already prepared dinner."
They followed GD into a fancy dining area, the atmosphere of the room seemed whimsical. As Y/n walked into the kitchen, a familiar scent hit her.
"Samgyeteng?" she asked
GD smiled at her as he nodded his head.
"I haven't had this in years. It was my favorite food when I first came here." she said with a fond smile
Lucas smiled as he watched Y/n eat the soup,he saw gleam of hope in her eyes. They all finished dinner rather quickly and then GD began to speak.
"I've decided to ask, if you all would be interested in playing a game?"
"What type of game?" asked Lucas
GD reached into his pocket a pulled out a deck of cards. He then whistled,which then prompted a man to come in. He handed the man the deck and the man proceeded to shuffle them. He passed out everyone two card facing down and then saved two cards for himself. One facing up and the other was facing down. The one facing up was a 9 of diamonds.
"BlackJack." said GD as he rested his chin on his hands.
"I'll play! I've been playing this game since I was small." said Y/n
"When was I going to find out about this?" asked Lucas
"You would've found out eventually if you'd take me to a casino." said Y/n as she smirked
"Then it's settled. We'll play in rounds. Rule of the game are simple. Queens,Kings and Jacks are worth 10. Ace is worth 1 or 11 and other cards are worth their numbers on the sides. If you want another card you say hit me. The person to go over 21 or the furthest away from 21 gets booted. Also remember if the dealer has 21 he wins. If someone has less than the dealer,they lose. If the dealer has less,they win. The remaining people go to the next round. Sound good?"
"Sounds good to me!" exclaimed Bolin
They each flipped over their cards and stared at each other.
"Hit me." said Bolin
The dealer grabbed a card out of the deck and passed it to him.
Y/n stared at her cards and smiled.
"I'm good."
"Hit me." said Lucas
The dealer passed him a card and Lucas sighed as he turned it over.
"King of hearts and diamonds and a 4 of spades. Which is over 21. Looks like you lose Lucas." said GD
GD then flipped his card over to reveal a 6 of Diamonds, a 10 of spades and a 2 of hearts. Y/n flipped hers over reveal a 9 of clubs and a 10 of diamonds. Bolin flipped his over to reveal a the King of spades, an ace and a 7 of hearts. The dealer flipped up his other card to reveal a 5 of spades.
"Looks like the three of us move on to the next round." exclaimed GD
The same process happened as the dealer passed them their cards. Bolin saw his cards and then looked at the dealer.
"Hit me." he said
"Bolin be careful with your cards. Don't go over 21 or you lose."
"Relax i've got this. Hit me."
The dealer passed Bolin a card, Bolin smiled at his card.
"Hit me." said Y/n
The dealer passed her a card and Y/n seemed content.
"I'm good." said GD
They each flipped their cards.
"A 5 of diamonds, 3 of hearts and 7 of spades." said Bolin
"10 of diamonds, 5 of spades and 4 of clubs." Y/n said confidently
"9 of hearts and Queen of spades." said GD
The dealer then turned over his card to reveal a 6 of clubs and a 10 of hearts that was still facing up.
Bolin smile dropped as he saw the 6 of clubs.
"Since the dealer is closer to 21, that means you lose." said GD
The dealer took the cards and shuffled them once more. Lucas and Bolin watched GD and Y/n intently. There was tension between both of them as they watched the delay pass them the cards. The dealer had a 10 of diamonds facing up.
"Hit me." said GD
The dealer passed him a card.
"Hit me." said Y/n
The dealer passed her a card and she smiled.
"Hit me again." said Y/n
Lucas began choking as he heard those words come out her mouth.
"Lucas this isn't the time to start thinking gross. It's the first time anyone has asked to get another card this whole game." exclaimed Bolin
The dealer passed Y/n a card and she smiled.
"A 5 of hearts and spades and a 10 of clubs. So I have 20." said GD
Y/n smiled as she flipped her cards.
"5 of clubs and diamonds, ace and a jack. In other words,21."
"Y/n got 21." said Bolin with a shocked face
GD smiled at his defeat and then they all stared at the dealer. The dealer flipped his card over to reveal a 10 spades.
"Y/n wins." said GD
"You really are good at gambling games." said Lucas
"A Jack of all trades." said Y/n
"Y/n?"
"Yes GD?"
"Please call me Ji-yong."
Y/n took a slight pause as she processed his name.
"I'm sorry it's just that my older brother's name was Ji-yong."
"I see. Do you his know or at least remember last name?"
"It was Kwon. In fact it was my last name before I changed back to my biological last name."
Y/n then looked behind Ji-yong and saw a letter in the back.
"I-I wrote this letter to the person who payed for my highschool and early college classes." said Y/n
She turned to GD and felt a small tear clem out her eye.
"You were the one who payed for my school?" she asked
"I'm more than just someone who payed for school." he said
Ji-yong reached into his pocket and unfolded a photograph. He motioned Y/n to sit next to him and she was shocked when she saw the picture.
"My first day of elementary school and your first day of senior year."
Bolin felt tears come out his eyes as he watched the scene.
"Let's give them some privacy." whispered Lucas as he led Bolin out the door.
Y/n felt tears drops slowly start to roll down her face and hugged Ji-yong.
"I've missed you so much. Even though you were only around for a certain point in my life, I've always taken your words and applied it to my everyday life. I went to school and did everything you told me I needed to do. After you left, I didn't know what to do with myself. I cut mom and dad off after I moved out for school. I haven't spoken to them since." said Y/n
Ji-yong began to cry as well and comforted his sister.
"I'm so ashamed of myself. I thought I could do everything to be part of your life, by paying for your school and everything you needed. I even went to your graduation but, I couldn't even find the courage to even say hi to you. Now look at you,all grown up and even dating someone."
"Have they tried to contact you?" asked Y/n as she wiped her tears.
"In the beginning but, they stopped sending my letters after they realized I wouldn't respond."
"I see. They never attempted to contact me after I told them off when they didn't show up to my graduation."
After talking for a while,exchanging their life stories and numbers, Lucas and Bolin came back into the room.
"Group hug?" asked Bolin.
Y/n looked at Ji-yong.
"Yeah!" said Y/n
The group hugged each other and a new family and bond was born.
