-y/n's pov-
Are Liv and Josh still together? That question was all I could think about. Liv is obviously hiding something from me. But what is she hiding? Are they still together? Did they split up? Ugh, these questions are driving me insane! To clear my mind, I decided to go observe the stars. I grabbed my phone and clicked on it so it would display the time: 7:12 pm. I got up from my bed to grab my sweater hanging on the doorknob and headed downstairs.
"You going to watch the stars again?" My dad asks. I nod.
"Okay. Be home before 9."
"Ok."
Walking from my house to the hill was a twenty-minute walk. I didn't want to ride my bike because it was too rocky. On the way to the hill, I got a notification. It was from Olivia.
< Oliviahey, y/n?
read 7:22 pmI didn't feel like texting back because well she didn't answer my text. She just ignored it. So I decided to ignore her too. A few minutes later, I arrived at the hill. I set my phone down on the grass and laid down on my back. I close my eyes trying to relax when I heard footsteps coming near me. I quickly open my eyes and look up to see Joshua standing above me. "hey..." He spoke quietly. "Sorry I didn't know you were here, I could leave if you like."
"n-no it's okay, you can stay."
"what are you doing here?" I asked.
"I just came up here to think," he smiled, "It's really peaceful up here."
"yeah," I mumbled.
I want to tell him. I want to tell him right now. It's the perfect chance and the perfect moment- but what if Liv and he are still together?
"Josh...," I whispered. He turned to look at me.
"i...i.." I paused for a moment. I didn't know what to say anymore. Was it too late to not say anything? Come on y/n pull yourself together, just tell him already. Who knows it probably won't turn out as bad as you think. "I...I like you."
Joshua didn't say a word. He just looked at me astonished.
"I know you don't feel the same way, but I'm sorry, I just had to tell you. I just couldn't keep it in anymore. You probably don't want to be friends anymore but that's fine, I understand. I've liked you since last summer when I met you here on the cold chilly night. I've liked you for a very long time but I never had the guts to admit it. I liked you even when I was with Jack- I never really liked him in that way. I...I only dated him because...because I was trying to get over you-"
Before I got to finish my sentence, Josh's lips were pressed against mine. I quickly pulled away in confusion realizing how wrong this was, "What about you and Olivia?"
He looked at me confused, "What do you mean? We broke up ages ago."
"Wait! What?!"
"I-I thought Olivia told you..."
"Oh my...How long have you-"
"She broke up with me a few days before we went to six flags."
They broke up that long ago! Oh my god! That's what she was hiding from me! She didn't want me to know because I told her to not break up with him. Oh my god.
"w-why did you kiss me?" I asked. Did he want me to shut up so he kissed me as I did with Jack?
He smiled, "Because I like you."
"What?!" I asked astonished. My heart was beating so fast, I swore it jumped out of my chest.
"I've liked you since the first day I met you when a strange girl was sitting up on this hill. I've never stopped liking you then-"
"why'd you date liv?" I cut him off.
"You didn't let me finish," He chuckled.
"When I saw you and Jack together. I got jealous- so I decided to ask Olivia out to try and get over you but that clearly didn't work. I was going to confess too but when I found out how depressed Jack was after you guys broke up, I decided it was best to not do anything."
I was speechless. Am I dreaming? There's no way this is real. I pinched myself to see if I was dreaming or not. I hope it's not a dream- I looked up to see Josh laughing at me. "what's so funny?" I asked.
"you're not dreaming, don't worry." He laughs.
I looked up at him feeling embarrassed, "y-yeah I know. Um is Liv okay with this?" I asked.
"why'd you think she broke up with me?"
I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder and gazed up at the sky. Later that night, we walked home together. I couldn't believe it. We were finally together. Together at last.
-The end-
