I Abruptly awoke to the clanging of pots and pans downstairs. "Can I ever just sleep in for once!" I thought. I rolled out of bed and pulled on a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt. On my way out if my room I checked my appearance in the mirror.
"Jesus, I look like a fucking bum!", "oh well". It wasn't like I cared what anybody thought of me. I had no friends any way. And I wasn't even totally bothered by that fact. I was an outsider, a wallflower, and I am not going to change any time soon.
"Maggie!" "Are you awake?" My younger brother Joseph yelled from downstairs. "
yes, Joey, just give me a minute."
I walked down the hall to the bathroom and looked at my hair.
"Good enough." Then I jogged down stairs.
"Are you going out like that?" Joseph asked. I looked down at my stained sweatshirt and shrugged.
"What do you care?"
Alright, I'm sorry it's just this is the first time we show ourselves in public, I mean shouldn't we leave a good impression?"
"Yes Joseph, because we just moved to California, we should definitely pretend like we're something we're not, to impress people we don't know and will probably never see again."
"Alright, fine, lets go then." Joey agreed.
I grabbed my keys and we walked outside to the car.
